Is this normal that I should not be touching the NEO (I was trying to turn the volume knob) when its playing? Or is this an indication of some grounding issue?

Thanks for your response. I always get static when I touch the neo when turn on. But this is the first time the neo actually stopped playing when being touched. Thanks for your feedback! You shouldn't experience any issues upon touching NEO iDSD during playback, but that sensible static indicates that there was some issue related to grounding. If I may ask, how your NEO iDSD is powered? And was it a one-time experience?

I am powering the neo with a allo shanti LPS at 5v1a
I also plug the lps into a furman power strip/power conditioner. Perhaps I should plug it directly to the wall ?

Actually I now plug the PSU directly to the wall instead of the conditioner and the static is gone. ThanksIf you can, please change your power supply (trying out a regular 5V PSU would do) and socket and then see whether there's any change. Static on your NEO iDSD's enclosure shouldn't be present.

Can I plug it to a regular surge protector or your recommendation would be directly to wall outlet? ThanksGood to know, that had to be the issue then, thanks and enjoy!

I've also been using surge protection and it works fine. Good grounding is key to not have weird interference or even partially floating AC on some components' chassis. My planars started humming when I moved my hands in the magnetic field to take them off my head . Was gone when I moved my setup to a decently grounded outlet with an extension cord. Can I plug it to a regular surge protector or your recommendation would be directly to wall outlet? Thanks

Performance edition HW is identical except for the accessories. You can download the latest firmware from the ifi site to access filters on the unit.New to this forum after reading this post last night. Great insights here. I recently purchased the neo and learned about the Performance edition. Forgive my naivete, but how do I download the PE filter update? I'm using it primarily as a dac within a 2 channel system. On the other hand, I'm within the return window so I may swap it out for a new PE from another provider, particularly if the extra accessories make a noticeable impact on the sound. Any thoughts on this? Much thanks --
