iFi audio iDSD Signature - The saga continues!

For those who use the Signature as desktop DAC/amp, do you keep the USB-C plugged into the PC or another outlet all the time to charge it? I also use RCA out to feed speakers, so I don't want to constantly disconnect it to charge it.
I would suggest that you get one of this below. I use them in all my laptops with internal batteries to avoid overcharging and potential fire risk when I am away.

I may have a defective unit or something. After a whole night of charging, the unit will just turn off after like 1-2 minutes of play.

Has anyone had the opportunity to compare this Signature with the Mojo 2? If so you kindly provide your sonic impressions? Many thanks.

Hi all,

Bought the iDSD Signature last month along with the Arya v2. Loving the combo.

Couple of observations/queries:

1. I find the charging USB-C port too recessed. I contacted my local seller, they contacted iFi and got the feedback that it's like that by design. Which seems really weird to me. I mean, you can see the charging light peeking through the gap! This seems like a design fault. Do you all have recessed ports like this? Due to this, not all of my cables can be used to charge it - it blinks like it's charging, but for some of the cables, it doesn't really charge even after charging whole night. So, it's a small annoyance for me.

2. Mine seems to discharge even when it's powered off. I fully charged it one time and then didn't use it at all - after turning it on after a week or so, the red light was blinking. I have to test it out some more to confirm the issue. Anyone having this kind of discharging issue?

Thanks.

Mine is same as recess and I don't have issue with charging with cable I have.
I don't have discharge issue either, I had left it unused for months, and still working.

Does not work for everyone! Depends on how bad your device/luck is. And if like me you like to listed at low volumes sometimes.

I am saying this from personal experience. And at least 2 other people have mentioned it in this thread. So how can they "pretend" to think that it is NOT an issue. They KNOW it is an issue. They probably are just "ok" with only x% being unhappy and the rest not being affected enough that the settings do not help. It is their right to do so. I will not argue with that. However no one in their right minds should say they don't see it as an issue. Their Forum rep post here almost everyday. Worst case he can see peoples report. But I am sure that from the many thousands of Micro BL owners, they must have gotten some reports too in the past years.

Hi Sebastien, can you confirm that the Signature with xu208 XMOS is safe to be flashed with 7.2c firmware just as it is said on the ifi download site? The unit lost MQA feature with basic Firmware XMOS but that is the only firmware (how about 7.2c?) can be used on PS4/PS5. Thanks~

Hi Sebastien, the serial# is 20140006XX

It seems that the firmware 7.2c includes all functions of Firmware XMOS (Release date: October 19, 2021) and Firmware 5.3c (Release date: September 10, 2018). If the unit could be installed with it it would be the best of both worlds. Attached a screenshot of what I got from the website. Thanks

Is anyone using a USB-C cable with a magnetic head for the iDSD Signature?

That would be an easy way to take the unit from the charger when playing music. I use the device as a desktop device

I am trying to find out the optimal charging solution.

The battery does not charge when the unit is switched off so charging overnight can only be done when I don’t forget to leave the unit switched on.

Thanks! And yes, we fully agree that DAP/amp products strapped to smartphones can easily fight with DAPs :L3000:

Apologies for not replying any earlier, your post didn't engage the notification bell. As for battery replacements, it depends on whether your product is out of warranty or not. If it's not, then your original place of purchase should handle everything. If it is, then we'll ask you to open a support ticket at our support platform and you'll be asked to ship the product to us, so we can replace necessary components and send it back to you. Thanks!

That's great to hear that you like our micro iDSD Signature this much. Please enjoy it and may it serve you well!
Can I use ifi signature as amp line out with my daps?

You mean using the DAP as a DAC and Signature as an Amp? If so, no that's not possible as Signature does not have an analogue input.
That sucks and makes no sense. I feel like that's an intentional money grab. If I want the analog I have to buy xcan or diablo. So I have to buy 2 separate devices to do what one should be able to do.

Diablo also does not have a Line Input, only Output to be used with other Amps.

The internal DACs in Signature and Diablo are probably better than almost all but the TOTL DAPs and even then you'll only get slight improvements or change in overall sound signature so it's not a big deal IMO.

If you are just looking for an Amp then Topping NX7 or xCAN are good in-expensive options.

I gave up pursuing DAP, as the New products coming out all the times, when you get one,
a new and better one comes along in a few months.
The most importantly, their cpus and operation are limited comparing with new cellphone.
their amp part has never better then a standalone dac/amp, such as Ifi signature.
I am using my old iPhone 6+, and iFi micro Xdsd signature stack and pretty happy with
the operation, it’s bigger than a DAP, but it suit my usage anyway.
Next time when I upgrade my cellphone, I also upgrade my stack with replaced cellphone
with ritually no extra charge.
