If you look at my post previously with the Roon bridge, I had the BL working over the network without issue. In fact once I receive the Signature I'll be using it with my Roon bridge sometimes and I'm 99.9% positive that the Sig will work fine.I understand, but not through a network as Pro iDSD is our only product with a network component in-built. USB is a totally different subject

IFi Audio - can the be run via usb C power only (no battery) in desktop mode?
As far as I can tell, only Pro iDSD works with Roon via our iBridge app for Win OS.
@iFi audio and @CANiSLAYu I've used the BL with Roon with no problems. I'm guessing the Sign will work too. If it doesn't we can talk to Room and get it working.
I know that it will work in terms of basic playback, but I'm curious if it will be Roon Tested, which means "Roon Tested devices work over USB, HDMI, AirPlay, Google Cast, and other protocols. They have been profiled by the Roon team to ensure simple setup and effortless daily use."
I know it will not be Roon Ready because it doesn't have any networking capabilities. iFi's other micro products have been Roon Tested, so it would be great if the Signature is as well:
It looks like iFi is using the same firmware for the Signature as they do for the BL. So most likely it will be Roon tested out of the box. I'm guessing they use the same usb controller too.I know that it will work in terms of basic playback, but I'm curious if it will be Roon Tested, which means "Roon Tested devices work over USB, HDMI, AirPlay, Google Cast, and other protocols. We'll get there soon
I wouldn't label the ZEN combo as less premium for desktop use, nope
Shipping starts when products are in stock at our distributors, which is mid November, but I'll double-check this.

I think that most folks against MQA got over it already
Thanks for your feedback!
The Neo iDSD looks really interesting, but I bought the Zen DAC a couple of months ago (and am loving it). Probably too early to comment, but based on the other comments would adding any of the other Zen products (e.g. Zen Can) equal the Neo? I'm 100% desktop so no need for a battery. I would have happily spent more on a desktop only solution if it had been available.

That's understandable, but you had to use a separate device that served as a Roon endpoint (connected to a Roon Core, possible in the same product) from which you sent data over USB to your BL.
I know it will not be Roon Ready because it doesn't have any networking capabilities. iFi's other micro products have been Roon Tested, so it would be great if the Signature is as well:
Yes, Roon Tested and Roon Ready are two different things. The latter requires a newtork component (that can be used as a Roon endpoint) in a product.

As much as I'd like to address this question, it's too early at this point. But I'll get back to it shortly.
It looks like iFi is using the same firmware for the Signature as they do for the BL. So most likely it will be Roon tested out of the box. I'm guessing they use the same usb controller too.
We have our own XMOS USB receivers in all our products and micro iDSD Signature is no different.

Its internal battery can't be bypassed just as it was the case with micro iDSD BL. But if you're able to provide more charge than a connected load needs, the battery won't ever die.

@iFi audio maybe you are not allowed to answer this ... but does the Signature have the same Dual BB DAC which is in the Black Label? It seems that you improved the analog section (just assumption because the outpower is not equal with the Black Label), but I am not sure with the DAC section.
The reason why I ask is that from my point of view, the DAC section in the Black Label is a bit to smooth for me and the DAC in the Pro iDSD is a bit to analytic. Something in the middle would be perfekt

I too, find the dac in the BL too smooth. I like it’s euphoric sound, but it seems like it’s cutting a little bit of edge off things compared to others.@iFi audio maybe you are not allowed to answer this ... but does the Signature have the same Dual BB DAC which is in the Black Label? Yes, good described. The Pro iDSD is on the total other side. Therefore something in the middle would fit perfectly for me
But let's see and cross fingers

Yup.

All it takes to get there is one knob push to change its output stage

Can I ask if people use a USB-A female to USB-A female adaptor on the BL then a standard USB-A to USB-C straight into Macbook? Would this be deemed ok? Maybe with an ifi silencer or Audioquest Jitterbug inline somewhere? With new Mac having USB-C only can the jitterbug/iSilencer be connected straight after the female to female or do they have to be plugged directly into the usb port of a MacBook?
I’m just looking for an alternative cable from an aesthetic point of view to the blue one supplied with the BL.
