iFi audio iDSD Diablo - A portable reference done our way!

My diablo gets warm when playing and even more warm after several hours of playing. is it normal? i do not experience this with micro black label.

iDSD Diablo can get warm after a while, and the more power it outputs, the hotter it will get. But even after hours of loud playback with difficult cans connected you should be able to hold it. Hot audio hardware (especially with class A circuits inside) that can still be touched is a good reference that everything is in order :)

Are you saying that the Diablo uses Class A amp in turbo mode? And in normal and eco modes?
For my taste normal mode has the best sound, sweeter and relaxed, while turbo is more dynamic and aggressive!

Sounds as this picture isn't from the Diablo that delivers up to 5000mW!

Diabolically Dynamic

Able to drive all manner of headphones with ease, the iDSD Diablo delivers up to 5000mW of prodigious power, propulsive energy and engaging dynamics, coupled with a remarkable ability to resolve fine texture and detail...

Is there anyone using the iPurifier 3 in the package? I couldn't tell a difference with it in the chain. Perhaps my hearing or my equipment don't require it. I've put it up for sale in the classifieds so I can get an IEMatch or something more useful for my needs.

Looking for guidance that isn't a dissertation on the nature of music. The fact that it changes the cabling to the dac/amp from USB A female to USB B? female is also very inconvenient.

The Diablo is just not the right DAC for IEM. If you use good IEM more than once a week and you want to have just one device who can deal with everything, get the Signature. Much better value conmpared to the Diablo.

I have used my Signature with 64Audio U12t and the Hifiman Arya without any problems. As I had the Diablo here, the Arya sounded quit a bit better, but the U12t IEM was just not useable at all. And I missed the Xbass on the Diablo, but thats a different topic.

For IEMs micro iDSD Signature works out of the box, and micro iDSD Diablo needs our iEMatch.

Typo festival!
5000mW, 4100mW or 4000mW?
Class A amp always or only in turbo mode?

@iFi audio ??? @Sebastien Chiu ???

iDSD Diablo has its class A circuit always engaged, and its balanced headphone out provides 12.6V/4,980 mW for 32-Ohm loads.

What load does the 19.2V/4100mw on the packaging reference?

Thank you for make this point clear!
This explain because normal sounds better than turbo...
At 300-Ohm loads how many volts/mW the balanced output provides?

Even the signature is too much power for IEMs. Sounds amazing, but I need to turn the volume too much to get rid of the channel imbalance.

I have experience with both Diablo and Signature with a range of IEMs.

The Signature definitely offers more options to accommodate the volume to match your iem, whether it's turning down the gain or using the built-in iEMatch.

The Diablo is a different story. I can listen comfortably just below 10 o'clock on eco mode fairly consistently with almost all IEMs in my collection. I have asked Peter Wong to make me a 1960s 4-twist 4.4 impedance attenuator that will be done this week.

Diablo paired with my LCD2F is very good for a portable solution.

Fair enough. Ate least for me and for my IEMs/cables, 10PM is around the volume where the channel imbalance ceases, but it is quite loud to my ears. On my old DAPs and amps I would listen to much lower volumes.

but the sound and 3D/xBass switches are great and addicting.

i ruled out the diablo due to missing iMatch and 3D/Xbass switches. But I will try it soon just to see the volume levels.
