The registration issue for checking on firmware updates had a simple, though non-intutive workaround. As I recall you substitute the first characters with the characters that were in the illustration on their website for the characters on your serial number.I tend to think that iFi was not fully prepared to launch Go Pod and rushed the release. I purchased my Go Pod on April 18th and received it one week later. When I went to register the unit I have on their website the Go Pod was not even listed under their product list for me to register. I submitted a ticket at the time to ask about registering the serial number and was told by iFi that the serial number I had was incorrect, even though I had attached an image of the Go Pod packaging with the serial number clearly showing at the bottom.
For a bluetooth dac/amp that can convert wired IEMs into wireless the Go Pod is still great in my opinion. I just think iFi may have rushed their release a bit and did not solve all of the minor kinks with the hardware and customer support.
To use that as an example of bad product quality, or even rushed launch, is ***in my opinion***, stretching pretty far. Someone messed up their website. Happens.
Anyway, as I wrote earlier, most people should wait before buying a new product. Let early adopters discover issues that the vendor either fixes, or are found to not be fixable. Let reviewers and early adopters share build, features, and performance observations to help you decide whether to purchase or not.
If you buy early you run the risk of being an unhappy buyer, as @PixelSquish appears to be.
