iFi audio GO pod + IEMs = brilliant wireless sound on the GO!
Feb 29, 2024 at 8:14 AM Post #1,846 of 2,078
Hi @iFi audio hope all is well i recently sent my device to get looked at ref the left ear piece cutting out. I'm still having the same issue intermittently. Also times when the connection drops out for both of them with a beep then starts playing again.

Note the device is right next to me and not in the pocket and I have tried diff Bluetooth connections

Also I have a shure wirless adapter which has no cut outs on the same devices

Can you take a look ref ticket 182965 Ps I have reopened the ticket thanks

Ps by the looks of it others are reporting the same issue so there is a wider issue in play. If it's a firmware issue can I revert to the original one to test if so how
Sorry you are still having issues, let me pass along your info to the tech folks and see if I can get them before some are gone for the weekend.

I do not know if there is a way to return to previous firmware, but I will enquire about this as well.

Cheers!!

For those having this problem, what sources are you using? I am using a Samsung S22 Ultra.

On occasion I also have the situation where the left Go Pod will cut out, and I fix this simply by pausing and then restarting the sound. Easy fix for me, and it really doesn’t bother me much, though I can understand if it bothers others more.

The interesting thing is I haven’t updated the Go Pods firmware in quite a long time, and as I recall for me this problem is recent, so I don’t think it is directly related to a change in the firmware. But, I do know my phone is automatically updated, and I wonder if this is due to an Android or a Samsung update…? Anyway, I am curious as to what sources others are using.

For me Samsung ultra 23, astell kern sp3000 and with the sony 306 though with the Sony the connection is awful so guess it's more the players poor Bluetooth connection.
This could very well be the case.

If I am connected to my Mac Mini I can pretty much wear my Pods to anywhere but the second floor of my home. (Mac is in my basement).

Putting my Android phone (no sim) on the same desk I lose it or breakups right as I go up the steps.

My iPhone 11 reaches a tad farther than that, but my Mini beats them both.

Cheers!!

So Bubbs, are you saying that the Go Pods won't partner well with what are after all fairly expensive phones and DAP's? Don't want to generalise but is this not how most people will listen, and therefore not great news? And that also wouldn't bode well for less expensive phones either.
I see a recent post from someone saying one of their Pods cuts out, not sure if others are having different problems too. I've had issues with my Pods emitting a horrible static sound, in 5 second bursts which then come intermittently. I've had a ticket raised for weeks and they want me to send them in. I'm holding off for now as I've found that if I disconnect the IEM's the problem either goes away for a few days, or if not in a few hours. The support team asked me to try on a different phone, which prompted me to upgrade my phone a month or too earlier than planned :relaxed:. Anyway I went from a Samsung Galaxy S22+ to an S24+ and it made not a jot of difference.
There are so many spinning plates it's hard to nail down what the issue could be , I'll list a few of these potential issues below.

I only ever listen to the Pods when I go outside walking, usually listening to Youtube podcasts or internet radio so it could be cos I'm outside?
Is it the connection between the Pods and the IEM's? So is it the Pod connector itself? Or could it be the IEM's that are not making great connection to the Pod, the IEM's are FiiO FH5s Hybrid In-Ear Monitors. Not mega expensive but hardy cheap either.
Could it be the battery? I was asked by support if my battery was charged enough, I never drop it below 60% so shouldn't be that.
Is it anything to do with F/W? It's hard to remember when this issue first started, but it was never an issue since before the turn of the year and I had them 6 months by then, and I always load the new F/W when it is available.

Sorry for long post.

My GO Pod is my main way of listening to my music. From all the devices shown in my signature, I can say I am using the GO Pod 85% of the time.
I've bought extra ear-hooks so I am using all of my IEMs, shown in my signature, with my GO Pod (besides the Tansio Mirai Sands, which I consider the worst purchase I've ever made). They all sound fantastic!!

My GO Pod is always connected to my Samsung S23 Ultra. I am always using the latest Firmware. I never had any issue with updating the Firmware.
I never have any issue, noises, cut outs, disconnections or otherwise, when using them outdoors, so my smartphone is in my pocket.
Indoors, the GO Pod has excellent Bluetooth range, in the sense that it covers my entire property, almost. Three floors, all covered! Only my Samsung Galaxy Buds2 Pro beat the Pods in connectivity range but those use Samsung’s Scalable Codec which is Adaptive, whereas my Pods connect via LDAC 990/909kbps, fixed.

The only "issue" I've faced is when, sometimes, after a phone call, and rarely after a WhatsApp call as well, music won't play, so I place them back into the case and take them out again.

I am listening to my WAV files via UAPP, Amazon Music Unlimited, YouTube Premium (all the time!) and some Qobuz (but I'll cancel this subscription).

No, I was just trying to illustrate that different devices have different ranges at least this has been my experience.

99% of the time it would be recommended by almost anyone to stay within a safe distance of the transmitting device. I am rarely ever more than 5-10 feet away while I use my go pods but I have walked further than that and that's what I was trying to convey. I have never had my pods cut out or crackle or static, if they did I would immediately contact support and get them serviced or replaced if it continued.

I also have a pair of Anker Soundcore TWS buds and see worse performance in terms of distance than the Pods.

Now a bit of personal note. I found any form of wireless connection undesirable, and never really cared for Bluetooth one bit, The Go Pods changed my opinion of this and hopefully we can advance further in this area to the benefit of all users.

My Android phone is a lovely Blu G91 Max, I have it mainly for issues I see here or apps that folks are inquiring about, Just for clarity. I would certainly hope that a TOTL Samsung phone or any brand should outperform this in most areas, but I am an IOS fan and I hope the same from them. My Blu phone was about 100 bucks on sale, lol

Hope that helps clarify my comment.

Cheers!!

You lead a charmed life :)

Observations about Bluetooth connectivity being worse outside vs indoors also makes sense in general - outside there are fewer objects / walls for the BT signals to bounce off of than there are indoors. Common problem, though clearly some devices will work better than others depending on antenna quality and strength…

The random disconnects are really the only issue that I have, and personally I am still very happy with the Go Pods as well!

You would think. However I find the opposite. Indoors I don't get dropouts or distortion etc, but outdoors I can't say the same. It's just a bit annoying that using a premium phone, a premium DAC/ headphone amp and fairly expensive IEM's totalling well over £1500 that the performance is 6/10 at best. And the problem is I don't know which of the pieces of equipment is at fault lol.

What I was saying - and sorry if I wasn’t clear - is that I also get better performance indoors, because indoors there are walls and objects that can reflect the signals and thus increasing range and quality, but outdoors there are fewer such opportunities for reflecting the signals. This is not unique to the Go Pods, but to all BT devices.

I know this mighty sound ridiculous but the next time you are outdoors take a moment to turn off your wifi at your device.

I only thought of this because I remember my brother having an issue and it had to do with his wifi always looking to lock on to a source.

Probably nothing but worth a check anyway.

Cheers!!

Sorry if there's spelling issues mobile phone fat fingers 🤣

Cheers, but yeah I make a habit of doing that anyway.
