If your primary headphone broke today, would you buy another?

Very good question!

The only 2 (4) phones which to my taste are worth to blow again the money at the moment are Edition 9 (or now Edition 8), K-1000 (or sometime K-2000) and perhaps PFR-V1 / SR-003.

Yes without a doubt, my HD600 is the most balanced headphone out of those I've owned and it is not even the most expensive one.

I'd keep one with me even if I move on to try Stax or speakers.

A pup shreaded the last 5 ft of cable on the 701s. There are cheap options like putting a plug on the end of what's left. A generous HFer is willing to bring a cable to an upcoming meet. I could go for a jewelery re-cable. I could just get another can.

I bought some nice tubes to mate with these so sending them to the audio kitchen drawer isn't so easy.

Yes, I sure would!
I have build this system around them, and hence need a replacement if they break down.

Well I love both my cans and can use either one as main. I would not try to replace them now, but in the future would be on my list for sure.

Also would look at every option possible to repair them before replacing them.

Yes, but I would get the newer model.

It would be a tough call but I think I would replace them before trying out the HD600/650...

How much is that in US $? I recently saw a pair for $279 (If I could use open phones, I would have considered them.)

I voted 'no' because in the past I've always upgraded broken headphones to at least one step up but then I got thinking and... with HD650, ESW10 and the RS1 that's coming I think I'll just buy the same again.
SR325i not sure, a month ago I would've upgraded it, but now I'll have to see where it stands in my collection.

I ruined one KSC75 and bought three. I guess RP-21 is my main can and if no repair/replacement was possible I would surely buy a new one. They are a little creaky though, hmm.
