Thanks. Appreciate the input, guys!
Curiousity got the better of me so I cut off the inner tip of a small triple flange. The good news is the ear canal tickling sensation gone. Now the bad news is the filter is now pretty much flush with the tip opening, and I'm slightly concerned they come out and live in my ear canals... Sound wise I think treble range is rolled off a bit though I can't say for sure. Welp now time to try foams before I shell out the money for double flanges.
Just buy double flange. More comfortable and I personally enjoy their sound as much or more than triple flange.
Yeah. After getting nauseous from trying large triple flanges (smalls felt too small), and not being too happy with IEMs sticking out with foams (seal was great though), I pulled the trigger on the tip sampler pack. I'm hoping the double flanges work so I can justify buying the Evo down the roadi find that the ER4s need to have that extra length from the nozzle end to the end of the eartips, and the similar width, that's why any eartips that are shorter and/or wider nozzled than the original triple flange would scstter the treble and make it sound more harsh/brittle on the top end
Well I see about 25 different sku from my search, so I don't think they actually differentiate anything! Also used price is about $119, I don't see any reason to buy them. You can get new er4sr for $129 in Adorama. Can anyone tell me what the difference in ER4SR SKU is between US1336373 and US1357586? I see both skus on Adorama for their used units.
https://www.adorama.com/etyer4sr.html?emailprice=tDoes Adorama have a link to special prices on new ER4SRs? When I go to their website the price is the usual $299. Used/open box is $119.Thanks!
You could get the ER4XR off adorama for $129 https://www.adorama.com/etyer4xr.html?emailprice=t. I can't offer any help as I've only heard the SR and XR. Cable replacement is definitely more solid then cable repair though.New member here, just stumbled across this amazing forum while I weigh my options of replacing my beloved ER4Pt's, after finding out that Etymotic doesn't do out of warranty repairs any longer. I've had my ER4s for a decade, and they are truly beloved. The cable has frayed again near the headphone jack.. I'm debating between picking up the new model ER4 XR, or trying to get the cable repaired locally. My worry is that I won't love the ER4 XR as much as I love the ER4Pt, and that I could be in the same boat again several years down the road after the warranty period, if the cable frays again. What do you all suggest? 1) cable repair 2) cable replacement 3) new model ER4 XR ($176 / pretty cheap on Amazon?)
That is quite a deal! Very tempting. Update: Just purchased those. You could get the ER4XR off adorama for $129 https://www.adorama.com/etyer4xr.html?emailprice=t. I can't offer any help as I've only heard the SR and XR. Cable replacement is definitely more solid then cable repair though.
