Well, I'd stick with what I have, the K1000s. Omega IIs could be something to buy without listening too

I prefer open headphones to closed ones, but they make no sense for portable use, at least not in NYC. So my open choice would definitely be for home use, and I'd have to go with HD 800s.

The K1000 are great cans but are too flawed for a one-n-only.

If you drop $5k on a selected dynamic amp, I'd be surprised if the HD800 couldn't at least play the O2mk1 to a draw. The HD800 sounds good'nuf on my DIY Rube Goldberg amps.

The O2mk1 is "the one" though, if you don't put reasonable limits on what's $pent to drive it.

right. In that case, probably the grado HP1000 or one of the new orthodynamic headphones I haven't heard yet!
