Depends on the available system(s) and circumstances.

If it's for anything/everything/all possible circumstances for the rest of my life then I'd be looking at something that would sound good anywhere and last, even on a desert island. Probably my Livewires.

But if everything else is constantly available and the only limitation is one headphone at any point in time then it'll be my HE60s - they're just the best sounding set I've got ATM.

R10's of course.

They sound fantastic and really give me a sense of what the recording is like. Very detailed, tonally accurate, balanced and dynamic.

The other huge advantage is that they're closed and even though they don't isolate a lot, they do so enough to block out most external sound and don't leak sound when I share my study with my wife.

Also, aesthetically to me, they are very pleasing.

I already did this, E500's was my choice because their sonic signature just seems to suit me and overall they're very versatile because being so compact and portable I can take them with me and use them pretty much anywhere.

It would be torture to be without the Grados, but I'd probably go with the AKG K-1000. Does great with every genre I've thrown at it and the speaker-like qualities are matched by nothing else.

Still, I'd be sorely tempted to keep the HP-2 over the K-1000. Tough call.

What kind of question is this?

Well, it all depends on the given circumstances. I'd probably buy an Omega II and that's it...

Or do you mean "affordable" headphones?
