Hey everyone, I'm still relatively new to the whole IEM scene.

I currently have a:
ZuneHD 32gb, Sansa Clip 2gb, and a Sansa Fuze 4gb with 8gb card
Headphones: Audio Technica ATH-M50's
Used to own Nuforce NE-7M's but due to issues with the microphone, sent them back and had a lot of trouble with the company as they did not want to give me a refund even though I attempted to return them within the alloted time. Basically, I'm trying to stay away from Nuforce currently.

Generally I listen to bands such as Rise against, Disturbed, Lost Prophets, Linkin Park, Skillet, BFMV, Nightwish, etc.
I my Zune for walking to and from classes with 320 mp3's.
I use my Sansa Fuze for 'serious listening' I guess you could say, with FLAC files.

Ideas?

Just as some choices I've heard recommended:

V-MODA R-ROUGE Remix In-Ear Headphones

Hippo VB

My concern with these is that there would be too much bass for me. Like I said, I'm relatively new so I'm not really sure.

Visang RO3

Fischer Audio Eterna

Hippo Vb has changeable bass plates you should be fine, I would highly recommend the Phonak PFE

What are you looking for sound wise? V-type, Bass, Natural, Analytical???

You should check out |joker|'s massive review thread.

V-Shaped = emphasis on bass and treble frequencies
Bassy = exactly what it sounds like, bass frequencies are emphasized, which can be a good thing with the right iems
Neutral = this is a matter of taste, but in general it means an uncolored reproduction, no emphasis on bass, midrange or treble
Analytical = detailed. I also associate it with a bright (trebly) sound

A IEM I highly recommend as a good starter would be the Phonak PFE. I went thru the Shure 530, Q-jays, and something else....anyhow the Phonak it all depends on what your looking for and if you don't know then I suggest Phonak. A easy IEM to get along with without any complaints or major flaws also with changeable filters for different sound sigs. Ex, if you want bass you would use the black filter. In the mood for balance/highlight the Phonak qualities or what it is known for you would use the Grey. Good isolation, comes with a assortment of tips plus the customer service is phenomenal.

How easy is changing the filter? I want to make sure that it's something simple enough that I can feel comfortable doing by myself, you know?

Dude it's the easiest thing in the world it comes equipped with a interchangeable filter tool. Smaller than a q-tip you just twist it and out pops the filter. Also not only do they last for a year+ but they're cheap should you want some back-ups.

I read the massive comparison thread, and it said there were "Reported build issues with original version" do you know if this has been fixed?

Yuin PK1's. Full rich sound, if you're willing to consider earbuds. They've gotten great reviews around here, for good reason. Plus, you can wear them in places where you might *not* want total isolation.
