IEM for metal music and hard rock - ultimate solution

MK1 or MK2
They are practically identical.

OG if you prefer a bit more treble, MK2 if you prefer a bit more bass. The MK2 is more conservative, so it can be a safe bet.

They say that the MK2 is more comfortable, although for me the OG is very comfortable.

Nio vs MEST comparison from 12:20. I don't know the MEST, so I can't say if I agree with his assessment:

Which IEM would you recommend for prog/rock/metal? I've seen the Mest MKII is mentioned quite often but it's completely out of my range. What about the new Shuoer EJ07M? Any impressions yet? The original EJ07 used to be recommended for rock and metal genres.

for under $1k?
Softears RSV,
especially if you enjoy listening to music very loud,
other iems sometimes have an unbearable piercing treble/upper mid if you turn up the volume too much.

Latest tribrids are very tempting. I'm mostly interested with EJ07M and Oracle. I feel like Variations, UP and EST50 might be too bassy for my taste. Waiting for more reviews and comparisons.

Haven't heard either of the EJ07 IEMs but I do see them recommended for metal on occasion.

The DUNU SA6 do well with metal (and other genres, too) but may be a touch bass-lite if you're looking for a lot of low end thump. Similar price point to the EJ07M though at MSRP and can be had for substantially less (~$400) second hand. Really solid BA implementation with zero fatigue in the upper mids/treble (a must with black metal IMO).

Hi! I had the EJ07 and regret to have sold them. I listen mostly to prog/rock/metal like you and they were amazing.

Thanks. How would you describe the sound?

@rhys4peace if you want to experience a really raw analog type of sound,
my top recommendation is Unique Melody 3DT,
but as always, read the review first, and the comparisons,

another great sets:
- Dunu SA6
- EJ07 / EJ07M
- Softears RSV

Unfortunately, the EJ07 and RSV are a bit out of my price range, and tho I've heard good things about the Dunu, I enjoy the physical slam of DD bass to go with an all BA iem.

EJ07M and UM 3DT look interesting, so thanks a bunch for putting me onto them!

After selling the EJ07 I had bought tje UM 3DT and then my last purchase, the CA Vega 2020.
UM 3DT are even better than EJ07 imho, because the sound quality is the same but the price was the half.

Thanks. How would you describe the sound?

I remember that EJ07 were linear with very good treble extension but to me they lacked the bass kick that I like.
3DT are more engaging to me, maybe they have the best tonality and details level for their price range.
Vega 2020 are bass cannon, with very organic sound and I love them, but they are a bit slow for fast prog metal subgenres and they risk to sound a little muddy.
