I'm in love with my ath-ad900s (especially when I boost the bass up about 5-6db). They are so clear. The midrange is slightly forward (perfect) and not too forward or recessed. The treble is perfect as well.

I know that NO IEM can match them as far as soundstage. With that said, what are some iems that sounds the most like them? I want the clarity, great response to bass boost, slightly forward midrange or neutral at worst, and above average soundstage. I have the sm3 and they are almost perfect but they can't match the ad900 in clarity. I had the se530 and they were very clear but they were too forward and bass boost response wasn't quite good and soundstage was so so. I had the fx700 and I felt the midrange was slightly recessed (slightly) and treble was a minute touch too hot. But they were very clear.

RE0 or RE-ZERO?

I haven't heard either of those but I do have an AD900 so I can kind of understand what you're looking for.

Sony EX1000, Westone 4, PFE 232, RE272, UM3x, CK100 and HF5.

Really. So it sounds like the ad900? Clear and transparent (no veil) with slight forward mids, good soundstage, and good response to bass boosting (like with the eq or amps)?

I don't think some of these sound like the ad900. I heard ck100 was veiled and not as clear sounding as the ad900.

You can't really compare soundstages of fullsizes to iems. I would say you are looking for something like the pfe or the re272. Um3x has forward mids but is kinda heavy in bass compared to the ad900

1. How is the soundstage of the u3mx and how clear is it? Is it very clear like the ad900 (no veil)?
2. Is the midrange full or a little thin? For example, the ie7 has a forward midrange but it is pushed forward in only a small region (thin and not full) where the se530 is pushed forward in a more wider region.

I do not think RE272 is close to AD900, especially soundstage-wise.

If, as Joker hinted, there are more similarities than differences between RE262 and the new flagship IEM, I agree with you. Nothing beats those giant cups on the AD900 - drum runs sound particularly 3D. Fantastic cans, and very under-rated on HF IMO.

It's more intimate than the ad900 as its has quite forward mids. It's definitely not thin, in fact, it's quick thick and warm

I just received the re262 and they are awesome. Have you heard them? If so then how would you compare the um3x to them? Anyone else can chime in on the question too.
