Have you tried the FH1? Cause if you want more bass, thicker mids and average treble compared to the IT01, that's exactly what you are describing. Personally, I like bright IEMs so I found the bass on the FH1 a little too much, it is fast and controlled though. Vocals are also thick and organic. I found the treble lacking, it has that BA detail but it's way too subdued for my taste, might suit you though, seems like that's what you are looking for in the under $100 range. They are also a lot more comfortable than IT01. BTW, I'm using either Spinfits or foams on IT01.
Yeah I agree on comfort, the fh1 were extremely comfortable, you could sleep on them. I had a hard choice between the 2, but I opted for the it01 because the treble on the fh1 were below average for my tastes, which ruined the generally exceptional sound for me. But I just found something that transformed my it01 to the thicker plus detailed sound that I like. It was the ostrys kco9 medium sized wide bore tips which made the ostrys more full bodied and didn't dull the sound, infact I'm getting more airyness to them now. I'm absolutely shocked by these now!!! Thanks alot everyone.

Good to hear! It's the right tips that make the difference. So now you know that the mids aren't thin at all as some people think, right? The solution to your dilemma was hiding in plain sight all along :)

Haha yes it's quite funny thinking about. Now I love the sound, alot of things have improved, like more generally air, more width in soundstage and more thicker overall notes, which have turned them from thin to medium. However, I don't get why the it01s wide tips made the sound worse, whereas the ostrys ones made a dramatic improvement. I had good seal on both of them

Yes, that is interesting. Perhaps one set of tips is thinner or thicker silicone? Are they identical shape and weight, same stalk material and same bore width?
Might be a useful experiment for you to also try tips from your other iems too, perhaps you can improve even further on the sound.

Tbh, the ostrys ones look and feel more premium, they have more weight and have the same width size as the it01 ones. Yeah , I should really try more tips, but they were the last ones I hadn't tried and they were the special ones waiting to be touched. Which tips do you use btw?

I use the ones in the photo here, 2nd post up from the bottom. I get solid bass, mids and treble from them.

You should try getting a better wide bore tip with more weight and see if that enhances the sound further for you. Just before I tried the wide bore ones, I tried another ostry tip, which actually thickened the sound more but reduced overall sound quality. It's all just playing around and time consuming, but it's worth the play, especially in my case as I want to get the best out of what I have.

I highly recommend the MandarinES Symbio W tips for the IT01.

I got mine today and I find all the notes across all frequencies sound heavier and more smooth. Basically makes everything more rounded and balanced and less sharp. Really nice.

Think I'm gonna pick this over the f9 Pro, hope I'm not making a mistake!

Buy from penon audio or ibasso website? It's shipping to Canada wanna avoid duties.

Anyone seen both colors in person? What do you prefer? Anyone got up close pics?

I don't now the F9 Pro; but I do like the IT01. I would describe them as "fun" in the sense that the bass is full. I don't see the bass as bloated, but its there and there are time when I want that.

Some people call these v shaped; I don't see it that way. More like a lazy L. with up part being in the bass region.

I found them on Amazon.

I don't think the burn-in was as pronounced as the vendor has suggested. They sounded pretty good to me right away. With any IEM, bass tends to improve a bit once the drivers get some use but its not like a night and day effect. As one wag noted; giving an IEM a 100 hour burn in period certainly reduces returns as customers may not hit 100 hours until the return window closes. But I knew these were keepers almost right away. Now my biggest problem is that I am eyeing their older sibling, the IT04. First world issues I know.
