Stop playback and battery bleeds. This normal? Should we always power down the unit when not in use?

Went from 56 percent on plane, woke up a few hours later and it was dead.

  New Bug:

V1.1.4
2x 128gb sandisk cards

= selected and played a song having selected it from 'artist'

next 2 i tried (from searching in 'Artist' nothing happened - the name of the artist/album appears + 0.00 for time below - when I go to those albums in the disk directory to the card itself where they are stored they play ok.

Tried it again - it seems nothing will now play from the 'artist selection folder' - you can see the album art - you select it and you back to a screen this time with no art - and a hiss - when i pressed pause and then play again the original song i selected plays again from the begining  o_0

If it do this while the selected track [from the directory card search] is playing the new album details appear below the original album from the song  - you can even select the next song from the text below the album art of the newly selected album!

Then the song just stops - pressing play starts it again

hope that makes sense!

FIXED now with update from 25th - Thank You!

Merry Christmas/Holidays to all at iBasso :)

New Bugs x2:

(low gain/sharp filter)

1, Changing in intensity I now get a high pitching fuzzy clicking in the background. Sometimes sounds like distortion - just about audible - sometimes a lot more noticable
While the song is playing if I go back to song listing screen of that album -  I scroll down the other songs the fuzzy buzzing goes mental directly in corolation to the scrolling

It MIGHT be in relation to vinyl rips only - it seems far less prevelant / sometimes non existent on purely digital tracks only
My rips are 99% super click/pop free ! but it seems to be picking up the odd click, pop and exagerating them into something of a constant.

Also happens when I scroll through Artists (as vinyl track is playing) - sounds like it increases and exagerates the levels of any clicks

2, The same bug from the dx90 scrolling is there - im scrolling down and it freaks out for a second and goes back to the begining !

(after a bit more experimentation - 99% sure the player is picking up any clicks on vinyl recording and exaggerating them to the degree that they are present - if the recording is very clicky, then there is an almost constant fuzz buzzing when scrolling. It also seems to do the same within tracks - picks up and exaggerates any clicks as the tracks plays)

will upload a sample track later . . .

Few issues with the new firmware (1.2.0)

1. When using the Album art view under the Albums section images are heavily pixelated, I do not remember it being this way before however I didn't use this view very often.

2. When navigating through the "Directory" view the currently playing track is no longer highlighted in red (It was in the previous fw version and is in every other navigation).

3. If you select the currently playing track from any navigation it restarts the track and returns you to the main screen instead of just returning you to the main screen like in previous versions.

sample track that was heavily effected:  http://www.mediafire.com/download/qe3vp03a4n0h3zs/03_-_Daughter_-_Youth_01.flac

Edit: This seems to happen on all my vinyl ripped audio so, with this latest update most of music is unplayable. When this is happening & i scroll fast up and down on the albums tracks the music can be heard 'warbling' - so it seems the player is doing something very strange with 'click' sounds on any audio!  A few times it also picked up some click and sounded like it was looping them !!

- I also had clipping and fairly subtle distortion on a cd rip as well

Going to go back an update and see what happens.
TBH the sound itself appears pretty warm, flat and quite uninspiring as well - and this is on Fidue A83! - maybe its just the update? It might be too warm because I want to keep turning it up to get any kind of punch/life out of it... (here we go again aka: dx90 firmware updates)  :)

Final Edit:

For me at any rate the FW-V1.2.0 Dec 25th makes any vinyl-ripped audio for me unplayable -
After investigating further the faults i detail above do not exist on FW V1.1.4 Nov 23rd
I also found the sound quality from this FW to be very warm, flat, with no bass punch or high sparkle at all although Im sure may like this particular sound.

I went back to re-install and double check everything but the results are the same

Another bug:

had this on the dx90

gapless on OR off - The song gets to the end - then goes back a few seconds, repeats a few moments of the end of the song, suddenly cuts  and then goes to the next song in the album :/

Dec 26, 2015 at 12:19 AM Post #337 of 1,489
after updating to FW1.20 it seems to have lost the sparkle and energy....

i notice there is "crackling/tacking" sound when i press the screen n scrolling/selecting to different tracks within the directory album folder and swiping up down with my finger press on the screen while one of the song is playing

not too sure anyone is facing this as well. It is dead silence with the previous FW 1.14 without any crackling/tack sound

Those who experience problems after firmware update: did you perform a factory reset?

Hint: update via recovery console performs factory reset after flashing, which saves time and efforts.

did the reset after flashing the FW... redownload and reflash FW again still the same crackling problem when swiping the screen with song playing.

now back to FW1.14

Yes, now I hear it as well, but only on 24/192 tracks.

I’m hearing the crackling with mp3 as well…
Other 1.2.0 feedback.  I did factory resets after install, etc.:

1.  Again, I note no changes in sound between 1.1.4 and 1.2.0.

2.  So far, I am unable to find the trigger for this behavior, but the unit will periodically enter a cycle in which there will be a 3-4 second delay before refreshing the album art or time point in the song if you advance forward or backward in a song, or skip ahead or backward to a different song.  This did not happen in 1.1.4.

3.  Perhaps the worst issue so far…I am unable to find the trigger for this behavior, but the unit will periodically lose proper function of the forward and backward buttons on the front.  While the touch screen buttons work fine, use of the “hard” buttons on the front will cause the unit to briefly shut off and lock up.  The relay click is heard twice when this happens.  Both times this started I was in Directory view.  Switching the unit off and on again did not eliminate the issue, but switching to another view made the problem go away temporarily.

4.  In All Music view, the unit will still not sort songs by song title regardless of sort mode selected.

5.  Not sure about this, the scroll responsiveness seems more jumpy and difficult to control.

Mine did this on 1.2.0.

When I pressed either track forward or track back (physical buttons) the screen would flash off/on then reset the playing track back at the beginning.

I haven't had such a bad experience using the coax S/PDIF output on my DX80.

The thing I'm curious about is, when you say the "DAP will freeze", do you mean the operating system of the DX80 hangs? or do you mean the sound is corrupted?
I'm guessing that your DX80 works fine in headphone or line output mode, so it's very weird that it will freeze only when it's used as S/PDIF transport.

If the DX80's operating system is fine but just the sound starts stuttering then I would guess that it's something along the transmission line (like the coax cable, DAC).
If the DX80's operating system hangs then something must be wrong with the unit itself.
Does the DX80 freeze when you are playing music with the S/PDIF cable hanging loose and not connected to your Bifrost DAC?

Also, what does it mean that you have a "router" to bypass the DAC?

Hi guys,
I connected my iBasso DX80 to car amplifiers, I've known difference of DX80 compare to DX50,
DX50 you can control gain output using LINE OUT where DX80 hasn't

I use LINE OUT because phone output connected to car amps is totally weird

Because I use this in the car, I connect the USB for recharging,
I don't why but sometimes the unit hangs after fast forward 2 or 3 songs or sometimes it hangs suddenly,
I got to turn it off by pushing it for long and it came normal but sometimes happen again

I don't know whether this is related to USB charging connected or battery almost drained, below 10%

What do you think ?

Oh, by the way, I use Behringer 3 channel mixer in my car and mount it on top for gain control from LINE OUT,
I got easy way to control volume with left hand also and LOW HIGH BALANCE can be easily control that way
