Ok big question here...I just went from a Hiby R5 Saber to a dx312. Now on my Saber at high gain I couldn't go above 50% volume. On the dx312 I've got 100 volume high gain and it's not even close to being loud. I missing something here? The volume is seriously low on this thing if this is as loud as it gets and the dx312 is supposed to have more power. I don't understand. Very disappointed so far. I've got to be missing something.

I'm using mest mk2 with it.

As of now the dx312 doesn't come close to the authority that my Hiby R5S has. What gives?

N00B EDIT: hahaha I was using the wrong output. Such a n00b mistake there. Pardon my state of mind. It's been a long day
Phew…I just sold my R5 and you got me all nervous lol

Just a suggestion, but try it on low gain first? No real reason an IEM should be on high gain.

And there is a definite improvement in using Mango OS over Mango APP.
Depends on IEM, I'm driving my Z5 on 40-55 HG as well, these are very thirsty for current

Agree. I have to use my TinHifi P1 (planars) on high gain to get comfortable levels (and driving well where they come alive) to about 65%. At lower gains but higher volume levels they sound almost lifeless comparably. Though, I DO agree that you don't need to drive ALL IEMs at high gain. That though, is the good thing about choice... :)

I kept waiting for Ibasso to come out with this similar design …. But AK has done it first

Am I the only one who is looking forward to a full-sized/desktop amplifier from iBasso?

Maybe it wouldn't be the wisest move business-wise, because iBasso is mainly known for their DAPs, but it would be quite interesting. They have a great team, and without a doubt they would put in the work required to make such an amp.

An "amplifier station" for a DAP (like what A&K has done above) would be the more logical move.

We'll see and let's hope for surprises

I have been here hoping for the last 3-4 years LOL!!

Obviously such desktop amp module like this would have served both Dx200/220 and 240 at the same times

Maybe Dx300 on another design ?

As I understand from photos this device is an integral and in front of it there is no separate removable DAP, but just an additional touch screen with Android interface... First I was thinking that this is a removable DAP in front of it with a big additional amp below, but this unit is solid.

I don't like the fact that it has an already connected DAP like device (since technology always evolves). I would rather have the option to dock a DAP or device like I believe FIIO did with one of their desktop amps years ago.
I also wonder about the use case for something like this since it would seem to be a bit large for portable listening even with a rechargeable battery. If you plan to use mostly for desktop amplification I would worry about the life/health of that battery since charging while using has shown to be an issue with some products (ie, Chord Mojo - albeit Chord fixed the issue on the Hugo2).

I would love to see iBasso create an elegant stand alone dock that could connect to any current desktop DAC or Amplifier users currently have.

To me, it is clunky looking. Also the DAC chips when done like this, which are not updatable, outdates it before it gets out there. I would also be interested in seeing ibasso doing a transportable amp design but I would bet, from what they have done and know, it would be better in performance and looks.

I am really waiting for this one: FiiO Q9 portable desktop class dac amp with internal battery, dual ess9038pro and powerfull THX amp:

It will have same specs as fiio M17 but will be much cheapier. That would be perfect device for me with serious sound.

Yeah, Ibasso could design similar but only Amplifier. See? The slot in mechanism already allow the DAP to stand up or laying down like that. It will be super solid
Ye a beafy external ampliefier plugin amp module. I think i would buy that if it had the right prise. Might not be hot swappable but still relatively easy. But then again what would be the adventage to an external amp connected to the coaxial out?

The external amp will slot right into the receptacles of the amp modules. It will be an amazing external amp. Ibasso can design so it run on main AC or battery. It will be desktop class

Dream on !!!

That would be insane!!! AC power would be nice. As of now I think very highly of dx312. I can't imagine an external plus
