Perfectly said! Hence I will recommend Amp11 MKII each and every time for the Dx300iBasso DX220 amp8EX versus iBasso DX300 amp11mark2
very close. Amp8EX is a bit more organic whereas Amp11mark2 is more precise. But they seem to share an overall similar close enough signature (dacs aside sum of parts and teh whole etc etc...)

So by now, most of you have probably heard the exciting Apple Music announcement that they will be adding 24/48 to much of their library at no additional cost and even 24/192 (!) lossless ALAC if you add a DAC and as the icing on the cake, they are also implementing Dolby Atmos for 3D sound.

That said, what will (and won’t) the DX300 support? Can we play this stuff???

It would be great to get details from iBasso and/or directly from Paul about this.So by now, most of you have probably heard the exciting Apple Music announcement that they will be adding 24/48 to much of their library at no additional cost and even 24/192 (!) lossless ALAC if you add a DAC and as the icing on the cake, they are also implementing Dolby Atmos for 3D sound.

I’d imagine you just play the Apple app in android mode just as you do now. I found it buggy a few days ago with slow load times, but it’s fine today. I updated the app version so maybe the old app had an issue. It would be great to get details from iBasso and/or directly from Paul about this.
I think Apple said lossless comes in June, looking forward to that. Would be cool if Davy could incorporate into UAPP now that they will also support lossless.
I presently have Tidal and Qobuz, I may drop one or both eventually. I was a big Apple Music listener until about a year ago when I got a descent player (and I switched to Tidal).
I think it’ll be nice for the car and long drives to switch back to lossless on car play.

I think I read that Apple Music Dolby Atmos will only be available to devices that have W1/H1 chips like Airpods but not sure what that means for the DX300 in terms of a transport?

My DX300 only intermittently gets a full charge for both batteries when hooked up to my MacBook Pro. If I plug it into a wall socket, it juices right up and quick.I just charged my DX300 off of my MacBook Pro. I would guess that the battery needs to be formed. I know that sometimes a higher amp output charger can sometimes kickstart the charging but as mentioned, I have also found that the low current output of a computer can work.

Can anyone explain to me the difference, sonically, between the 2.5mm & 4.4mm jacks on the DX300?
There shouldn't really be any sonic differences, mostly whether you prefer or already have one size or the other (general preference for most folks, all else being equal, is 4.4mm since it's less fragile). Can anyone explain to me the difference, sonically, between the 2.5mm & 4.4mm jacks on the DX300?

Thanks for the info! And yes, that’s what I’m thinking, as I possess a cable with the 2.5mm termination, and I have a nightmare about that tiny little pole snapping off. I wouldn’t mind having a 4.4 for durability. There shouldn't really be any sonic differences, mostly whether you prefer or already have one size or the other (general preference for most folks, all else being equal, is 4.4mm since it's less fragile).

Never heard SP1kM, but DX300 is going to be noticeable over DX160. As amazing as DX160 is for its price, DX300 will have the fuller, richer sound and mostly smoother sound with better layering and staging capabilities. Pair that with the AMP flexibility and much faster processor, and I think it should help justify your purchase.Hi everyone,
If anyone has listened to the ibasso DX160, how much of a difference is there in sound quality alone between that DAP and the DX300? Is it a huge difference in sound quality?
I am coming from the Astell&Kern SP1000M, which I sold and was looking at either the DX300 or the DX160. I don't want a huge drop in sound quality coming from a £2000 DAP, but if I can save some money and still get a high level of sound quality, I will buy the DX160.
If anyone can answer, I would really appreciate it. Thanks.
I am also basing this off memory and Mk1 chip, not the new DX300 Mk2 chips, but I imagine it won't change the comparison much as many seem to prefer the Mk2 subtle changes over Mk1 anyways.
