For those who are interested in buying the Micron i300 1TB microSD card, I see it on Digikey selling for ~$40 less than Mouser's price, even cheaper than the CS version on Mouser as well.
Small issue, but what is frustrating for me is the loading of the music on these cards. I have a good reader and have my music on a SSD Samsung now but it still takes some time, when using a 512 or 1tb card. :^)
Did a back to back with Mango OS and Neutron this evening with DSD, 100% sounds better (real) in Mango vs Neutron to my ears. Didn't bother trying over sampling as i've got quite a mixed library for resolution so i'll try again with some upsampled redbook next week.
Got an email today saying my SD card will be delivered on Monday, sucks ballz as i'm away with work for 2 weeks early Monday morning. More burn in when i get back....Zzzz. Not sure how many hours are on the SS now but must be coming up for 150 and i'm considering burn in done. It's changed a fair bit since powering on and sounds pretty damn good!
When I had the 220max, I bought a VALENTINUM case for full protection (over the screen).
So while I am waiting for any new cases to appear for the 300max, I looked around and found this nice "hard case" to put the unit in for transport and no worries:
So I received it (finally) and it does look nice, and slightly bigger perfect dimensions than the unit (but 2X thicker), so when a new leather case arrives, I can still put the unit in.
Here is pics for size comparison:
I'm using the SS with my ZMF VC and the pairing is awesome. Drives them handily and their synergy creates a natural, extremely layered and dynamic presentation.
It's amazing how much this 3MAX SS gives new bass detail definition to my older stuff like the Esw9ltd & lcd-xc. Seriously bringing new life to them. Made me realize I need to optimize desktop gear for bass definition and not merely punchiness.
The MAX both the SS & TI are a great match to my modded HD800. Loving the sound! I tested the DAC Out from the SS against the Matrix S-Sabre Pro and thought that the difference in sound quality can go either way. This is awesome in my book.
