@Paul - iBasso please feel free to take it over anytime

This look like Dx220 successor with backward compatible to modular amp systems from 1-8, using 1 single battery pack
Time to dig out that Amp8EX

Single ES9038Pro for sure. Otherwise it would have been disclosed with “2X” :)
Exactly!

I red somewhere that Ibasso was experimenting with 2xES9038PRO while building DX220 (or first MAX) but it turned out that those two DAC's drain battery too fast.
Maby it is cliché but I thing that implementation is far more important than the DAC's series.

I'm confused with this release and the DX300. Why would I buy this over the dx300? Is it simply different signatures for their fans? I don't know if I'm making any sense? What is my name? Where am I?

Cheaper or not , that doesn’t matter. What matters is that the amp modules are being supported, strongly!!!

I repeat, strongly!!!!

Your main DAC can be outdated for many reasons, and that is why Dx240 is released. But it is based on the already existed older amp modules

Amp 1
Amp 1 MKII
Amp 1 MKII Titanium
Amp 3
Amp 4
Amp 4s
Amp 7
Amp 8
Amp 8EX

This is to show you that Ibasso will not abandon the older product lines. I have already mentioned this many times. If it is done right, you can hold on to it, no problem at all.

Dx228EX is still hell lot of an equipment
Dx220Max is still hell lot of a performer
These guys are Super ancients btw

This also means that If Ibasso is going to release new module for Dx240, your existed 220 will still benefits!!!

Then there is the new Eco system of new Platform Module that is based on Dx300. The journey is on going, and you will never be left behind :)

Your exactly correct and thank you for pointing that out. That very much makes sense. Backwards compatibility shows the manufacturer takes into consideration the customer base. Imo it's a brilliant process. I just hope I can afford a dx240 when they are finally released.

What, no Amp9 compatibility? Are there plans to add that later?

Will it really be better than DX160 that have 2 DAC?

@Paul - iBasso has this device a true line-out that bypasses the amp ?
