KEEPER! :thumbsup::thumbsup:

MAX Stock, latest firmware with Lurker0's add on. Hooked as soon as I hit play...
Mannheim Steamroller's Fresh Aire 1, listening with DUNU DK4001's, balanced out.
Out of the box, it sounds as good or better than my DX220 with Amp8 EX with 100 hours or so of burn-in...

Cheers! :beerchug:

yeah---I wish that the case was reversed as far as top and bottom. When held in the correct orientation---the Max tends to slip out.

One option is to ‘reverse’ the case. It hits the volume pot slightly. No biggie.

i I prefer stock way as i am using ear/head phones and usually have it in a jeans pocket on the go.

reversed>>

I had a few requests to provide a guide, so here it is

Here are the written guide for installing @Lurker0 Firmware for MAX. This is for anyone who had not done this previously. Please remember to have an empty MicroSD that has nothing of values

1/ Download The latest Firmware here

2/ Goes to Lurker blog to download the Preparable SD Card Package <=== This is to write onto your "Will be corrupted SD Card", so that it can auto prompt the Max to update on Boot up. Please make sure that you store nothing of Value inside this card. Minimum requirement is 4GB

3/ Download The IMG writer from Lurker Blog

4/ Save all of these 3 packages into an organized folder 'MaxFirmware"

5/ Extract the 1st step package

6/ Extract the 2nd step package. Now you will have 2 unzipped folders " Dx220Max-A8.1-L1.24b2-sdupdate" and "DX220MaxFirmwareUpdater"
99A68C9A-FE72-44CF-9525-0762DEACA2C0.jpeg

7/ Insert the MicroSD that you have nothing on, then Identify the Drive ID. Mine is "Drive D".

8/ Install Win32 DiskImager.

9/ Open up Win32DiskImager program. Then browse to the Folder that contain all of these MaxFirmware. Choose and pick MaxFirmwareUpdater and Select the Device into the DriveID that you have according to your MicroSD (Devices)
8AC14E32-DAF9-4D41-974D-0E2F987799C6.jpeg

10/ Write. You will have a warning that it will corrupt the drive (please do not have anything of values stored in this drive)

11/ When all have gone correctly, you should have the MicroSD, Drive D (my example) that contains nothing but only 3 files "rksdfw.tag", "sd_boot-config", "sdupdater"
3EE62CC3-7E3B-4F44-AD3C-8759584E7019.jpeg

12/ Now browse to the extracted package from step 6th, or the " Dx220Max-A8.1-L1.24b2-sdupdate". You will see "readme" and "sdupdate". You will Copy this "sdupdate"
67EB2BBE-55DC-4D2F-AE00-45E93C9504AC.jpeg

13/ Go back to your MicroSD, Drive D (as example), and paste with the replace "command"

Voila, You have prepared your BootableSD card to auto update your Max. There are a few simple steps to follow. These are found in your "readme" text from the "Dx220Max-A8.1-L1.24b2-sdupdate". I urge you to read this if there are any problems. Note that the Step 2 is taken care of, so skip it

1. Turn DX220Max off from Android mode (not from Mango OS!).
2. Copy sdupdate.img to the SD-card prepared from DX220MaxFirmwareUpdater.img.
3. Safely remove (unmount) SD-card from the computer.
4. Insert the SD-card into DX220Max.
5. Turn DX220Max on, wait for the update to finish.
6. Follow on-screen instruction to remove SD-card from DX220Max.

Have fun!
7. Wait for DX220Max to boot completely.

Nice guide, thank you for posting it.

But before I install Lurker firmware on my MAX, can you go back to MAX stock firmware? If yes how?

Thanks.

So, I can use any SD card for this? Will I risk turning the unit to a brick?
