Ok. I tried a few more things today. I tried the FiiO app without success.

Back to the Hibymusic app.

I had trouble linking over Bluetooth which i require for in the go and commuting if i take the Max.

My music is fairly tightly curated so not much fast forwarding needed generally.

Paired with the iphone. Bluetooth and wifi.

Used as a fast forward/ play and pause/ rewind remote.

Iphone SE above and Max below.

You can navigate through and choose music.

Question: @artpiggo were you able to get it working purely over bluetooth only?

I am not sure. My friend borrow the unit during weekend so I will ask him to try that. May delayed answer.

If other Max owners could do a few tests with their different phones - we might come up with a collective solution.

i would prefer a cellphone on the go solution (BT) rather than having to carry an extra BT ‘button’.


at present i can control the max from afar at home using this method when its feeding my home system. Progress.

Does using all wireless features drain Down your batteries faster ?

Just got my MAX, everything went fine, installing Play Store is pretty straight forward, playing music from local file and streaming Qobuz with UAPP with no problem at all, still on stock fw.

First impression is very good, compare to N6ii with E01 amp module MAX made Noble Sultan faster, leaner, detail yet smooth, soundstage is wider.

I got question though is OTA fw update not available yet? MAX says there's no update available.

Which one have you selected? I’ve seen two models here in thread but can’t get what is a difference between.

i went for the one @twister6 said worked.

about $30 - $40. There were cheaper options but the reviews were mixed. I figure buy once, buy right. (It goes by another name too - but i cant find the post @twister6 ).

-Should arrive in a few days or so.

I have the JDS Labs Element II, but can’t seem to get the Max to play without using the UAPP. Is it possible to stream directly from Tidal or Otherwise via the USB C?

Picked up this one, works well after the recent update.
The circle button turns the screen on and works as a home button. Volume buttons work only with the DAC volume.

Just curious, does the circle button also bypass the lock screen? Does the mute button work as well?

The circle button bypasses the screen lock to wake the device, if you have no lock enabled or if you do it will just wake the screen. Mute button doesnt mute the DAC though.
