Dx160 vs Sony WM1A
Does any one know which offer more power output through its 4.4mm bal out.

Below stats are what I’ve found researching the internet.
DX160 - 6.4Vrms
Wm1A - 250 per Chanel @ 16 ohms

My knowledge over these numbers are very poor. Would appreciate some help on this.

That would mean that the DX does 1280mw @32 ohms and the Sony does 500mw @ 16 ohms

Though from what I have read about the DX160 that number is the maximum, which would give you 136 mw @ 300 ohms. I don't think the DX can generate enough current to generate that 1.2W @ 32 ohms load. I CAN say from experience, that it can power some high ohm headphones very well. I haven't ever heard the Sony, so I can't comment on it.

Bottom line: according to the numbers given by both manufacturers, the DX has more power out of 4.4mm balanced out.

This is really simple and helpful. Thank you. Ive been using the Dx160 for almost a year now and I find it to be powerful too. I am looking to upgrade to a device which is solid and can handle a bit of rough use while travelling. Hencr the curiosity abt Wm1a.

What would be a warm set of IEM's that would work well with the DX160? I bought the DX160 and AM05 together as Paul said it would be a warm setup, but no-one calls the AM05 warm in the reviews here. Wish I'd read them first.

Define your idea of warm?! Something that you can listen to all day without fatigue? If that is the case, I use the Tinhifi P1 with the DX and they have good detail retrieval, but lean towards the warmer side of things IMO. If you got those, you would probably want to order the Tripowin combo w/4.4mm balanced cable as they are planar and while they are easy to drive on paper, need the extra juice that the DX provides to sound their fullest.

Hi. Just bought a pair. I will report back when I receive them.

Sorry if this has been covered previously. I am interested in a dx160 and part of its use will be USB dac with my w10 pc. I currently have a dx90 which has a large audio delay when in USB dac mode which is fine for music playback, but useless for gaming etc. Does the dx160 have a delay? Is this a decent option or is a dedicated desktop dac and amp a better idea? What is the general feeling towards the dx160 as a dap these days? Are there better options? Cheers

I find that it doesn't actually do more than hold charge used like that, and runs really hot. Ended up getting a topping e30 for desktop instead.

No noticeable dac delay on my dx160. Its usable for fast paced fps for me.
