If i am not mistaken DX80 uses dual Cirrus Logic CS4398 DAC chips ......
....apart from that OK, yes i understand what you re saying regarding RAM/larger screen etc......but isn't battery life a crucial matter (for any audio company to take this under serious consideration) regarding any dap out there ????
i mean....i really do not know any other modern day DAP, that actually consumes so much battery in such a short time in comparison to DX160.
Actually (at least with my unit) it takes up to 5 hours of continuous listening, for the battery to get down from 100% fully charged to 0%.
whether i like it or not this is how things are......
I also think you might need a new battery.
I recieved a new unit last week, so my battery is fine. Tidal offline in 44,1 i lost 4% in the last hour.

update: 5hours of offline listening to tidal, with activated wifi for ~10minutes two download to albums. 55% now.
That‘s perfectly fine with me.

update: 6,5hours of continuous playing with IEMs at volume level 28-40 and I have 35% left. So thats more or less 10% per hour

Yes,
The consumption in my unit reaches about 15 % per hour of playing time...

Mango player is not th greatest at organizing my library. I have 24/96 Flac files and the same album in MQA. Mango is organizing all files in the same album and it's a mess. I don't have the same problem with Neutron. Do I need to edit tags? Change folders?

Hi all, new and happy dx160 owner here. I bought mine new open box so dont have the original plastic case.

Q - is it any good? I've just got the Miter in the post and tempted to keep it but I was on a budget and have gone over :)

p.s. if anyone's original plastic case is going spare pm me!

Edit: or any case for that matter... and thanks for the contributions on the thread, working through slowly whilst listening with happy ears.

Can anyone confirm if there's any sort of bug with Mango player playing MQA files? [...] Mango player is showing 24/96 but the notification bar is showing 192 Khz like Tidal
It's confusing but not a bug:
1. This seems to be a track that was recorded at 96kHz and then MQA-folded once down to 48kHz. (The latter is what a non-MQA-capable DAC would see and play.)
2. Mango player detects this and shows you the original sampling rate (96kHz).
3. Mango player should however not MQA-unfold the file but just pass the MQA stream unchanged to the DX160 (just like the Tidal app does).
4. The DX160 then detects the MQA stream stream (whether it comes from Mango player or the Tidal app), MQA-unfolds it as much as possible (max twice (4x) for the DX160) to 96kHz (for this track) and then upscales to the max resolution supported by the player (192kHz). The upscaling is unrelated to MQA, but the DX160 (and many DAPs) does it for all MQA files.
5. The notification bar shows the resulting, upscaled resolution (192kHz).

Just installed Lurker's firmware, is Mango player bit perfect.
It should be but i also use uapp player. It is really good and has bit perfect mode. Not desided which sounds better as both has high fidelity. But uapp is not nessesary as ibasso made their player to work without android sample rating. Also uapp player can't do full mqa unfoldinng as mango player. But it is good to have alternatives. Power amp has better interface than both, but sounds worse IMO.

I have uapp installed and doing a/b test wirh Mango player. Im liking uapp sounds more transparent to my ears.
From what i have tested it could be, i liked uapp realy transparent quality on my android phones ofcourse there it was because of bit perfect. But with ibasso i dont feel such big difference as ibasso is enough transparent. Mango player perhaps makes something or has some dsp going on as it gives sound more massive and musical taste but at the same time not so direct and trasnparent as uapp. It is only my opinion ofcourse and could be my imagination.

I totally agree with your findings.
Have tested few other player on ibasso but still found these two the best. Use uapp as most "right, transparent, linear" sounding and mango player when i feel track has some unwanted sharpness, or treble and want that musical more warm flavour that softens sounds a little. These ofcourse only small differences but they are IMO. Try mango mode as people say it is best sounding even compared to android. So will tell
