I finally got the hear the DX160 today, and compare it to the Hiby R6 Pro.

I checked the Wifi / BT was connected, and listed with player paused, and whilst playing music, and couldn't hear anything untoward on the DX 160.

I also discovered that if you headphones have a mic on them (like on my B&W P7W), that the sound is intentionally crap, so as to discourage you from using them, as it would be perverting the pure audio coming out of the unit.

So, agreeing with the sales guy, that this probably wasn't the unit for me, ... I asked him if he'd had any returns here in Singapore.

Firstly, they've sold waaaaay more of these that the R6 Pro, and only had one defective unit so far, ... but nothing to do with hiss / interference etc.

I was pretty impressed with the sound out of it -- honestly I couldn't tell the difference between that and the R6 Pro!

There was quite a big difference in weight tough, as the R6 Pro was the stainless steel version! It was like holding a tank in my left hand, and an iPhone in the other. Super solid, .. but probably too heavy to be lugging around in your pocked all day.

Anyway, ... so from my small test - sound quality was great - and no noise / hiss to be heard.

If, by a chance, you can update DX160 firmware to version 1.03.123, then add-on v1.25 is just for you
Can we update the stock firmware if we are running your 24b1 add-on? Or do we have to remove your add-on to be able to update the stock firmware and then re-apply your 25b1 add-on?

I just updated the firmware using the download update over 24b1 add-on then updated the add-on. Nothing was lost, everything works as expected. The only reason you'd have to remove the add-on is to use the OTA updater.

When you stop using ibasso, do you turn it off or leave it on standby? Which is the best option?

Actually I switch it off. Power consumption while standby is with dx160 much better then It was with fiio x7 II. But still its there..

So boot up time is within an acceptable range, I switch it off..

I just notice that Line Out also is affected by Gain setting. I thought gain setting was applied in the amp section (obviously I was wrong).

Technically, what is the optimal way to feed the amp? Max volume low gain?

the gain setting is likely coming from the supportive component of the DAC IC itself, and typically it is best to have lowest gain at max volume. There is no way to know for sure why gain is affecting the output, unless Ibasso could verify or disclose more information about the gains implementation.

Does UAPP on the dx160 work without resampling. I read it needs some custom firmware for other iBasso DAPs is this correct or will it run ok without this.

UAPP is working great for me. It recognizes the built in DAC and bypasses the Android resampling.
