I believe that driver is for the USB-DAC functionality but not required for your computer to recognize the device for simple file transfers - right?

Cheers,
Tim
Yes, but I find it always handy to have the driver installed. Thank you for making that clearer.

Regarding the computer not recognizing your DX160 - I encountered this with my DX220 and suspect it might be the same or similar here. Try going to the USB connections icon (swipe down from the top on DX220) and ensure that it is set to Transfer files instead of Charge this device. See if that works here. So no special drivers needed for the DX220 to be recognized.

Cheers,
Tim

P.S. Here is a link to the DX220 manual which might help you guys out until a more comprehensive DX160 manual is available: http://ibasso.com/uploadfiles/20190913/201909131757298437.pdf
You are exactly correct ! thx to you and the guy that responded right after you. Now if I get Blue tooth working i will be good to go. ( the 160 says its bluetooth connected to my airpods but no sound.)

That's a huge endorsement from my perspective. I was a really big fan of the N5ii's sound signature, maybe it just complimented my equipment. But I'd be keen to try the DX160 now... For the people who have it already. How's the size? The reason I moved away from jusing the DX150/220 more regularly is because of it's size...
The size wise it's wider but the sides are rounded which mitigates that a bit. Weight wise its also only slightly heavier. Nothing you can't get used to quickly though going back to the N5ii after three hours of holding the dx160 sort of makes you appreciate the small size of the N5ii XD

It definitely not as bulky as the DX150/200/220, fiio M11/11 Pro and Hiby R6/R6 Pro

I picked up Amazon Music with Ultra HD. On my Mac I couldn't get it to work. Amazon wasn't much help and one guy even disconnected from me rather than passing me to someone who might be able to help. Sound was good but I wanted what I paid for, past 24/44.1 (HD).

So today I was looking in the Utilities on my Mac and went to Midi player. Nothing to really change, frustrating. Then, I plugged in the DX160 again and it showed up in Midi and had a menu clear up to 32/384kHz. Set that up and now I have 24/192 for the Ultra HD to the DX160! Sounds EXCELLEnt with my Focal Stellia running them through the 4.4. Cancelled my Tidal and other service.

What about Soundstage ? (only to those who believe in that!!)
Its big with more width than depth. No holographic feel unfortunately. Its not at that level I guess.

Anyone know the pinout of the Pentaconn 4.4mm in this Dx160? I will need an adapter for my 2.5mm TRRS ...
Standard 4.4mm, same as Sony

IMO, I would say that it has a holographic presentation with Filter #3. Defintely more width than depth, especially with more forwarded mid.

Depends on the recording and setting, IMO. I get great separation and the feeling of air around well produced music, the singer or instrument having that more 3D effect.

HUH? Why should iBasso have divulged information on Tidal?
iBasso should have clarified that the DX160 does full MQA decoding in hardware when streaming from Tidal via the Tidal app. Admittedly, not all of that information is solely contained in @Luke Thomas ' post, but combined with what other people here wrote this is what it seems to come down to. And iBasso should make it easier getting to the bottom of this.

Yeah i guess, I listened to a wide mix of music and on some songs it really sounded grand. Not the largest I've ever heard (Cayin N8) and also doesn't have this holographic feel to it (Sp1000 / DMP-1Z) though i never expected it to.

I found it a tad wider than the DX220 stock.

Amazon HD stream only supports up to 16bit / 44.1kHz
However, if you download it, you can listen to the highest quality
You can specify an SD card as the save destination

Edit: Played with resampling

I am streaming now, not downloading from Amazon Music and it shows 24/96 or 24/192, depending upon the Ultra HD recording. Right now it shows 24/96 for some Bruce Springsteen I am listening to.

If you have only enough time and resources to dogs amazonHD worth it ? Last time I tried qooBuz and it was so bad....I can say for certain that some files are “fake high-sample”....like it literally show you 192/24....but then the dynamic, distortions, and everything else feel like an MP3...etc.
