I also narrowed it down to UAPP but with the latest update the battery drain seems to be a lot less. However, a few updates earlier it was a guzzler. Do you have the latest UAPP build? I was thinking of asking the dev what's up. Please do let me know what your conclusion is after you try resetting etc.
Thanks
I do indeed have the latest version. I JUST updated it within the last couple of weeks. I left it at home today. It was on, but no apps open. After about 12 or so hours, I came home and it is still at 100%. I will next test it running Mango, with UAPP closed...

I wonder if the update overwrote whatever tweaks that the Lurker mod made to make battery life better with this (and other) app??? I guess I just don't know enough about it deeper than conjecture to do more than guess.

Well in my case, after the latest update the battery seems to be holding as it did before. I dont have Lurker's MOD now nor have i ever installed it. I guess it was some rouge code on the previous build of UAPP that caused the battery drain. I will try with keeping UAPP open overnight (and close all other apps) and see how much the battery drain is during that time.

I doubt that UAPP can overwrite any of the tweaks that Lurker's mod offers but i cant be sure about that. I shall get back to you on thus. I even contacted the retailer i had bought this from and asked them about RMA and they were like please send it over and we will have a look. Now my conundrum is are they competent to check and decide if there is something wrong. I wish they would just send it directly to iBasso.

I wish @Paul - iBasso would clarify how this works as the retailer was not able to explain in a way i could understand.

I was sorta' thinking the same thing, but I can't think of what else could have caused UAPP to start misbehaving. I even had my first hot DAP issue when just playing it (which it has NEVER done before), almost like something was holding the CPU at full speed... Now I think about it, the player interface was also pretty slow. Maybe I will try and reboot in recovery mode and clear cache. Also, I wonder if using trim on it would help (though it has to be rooted AFAIK to run the trim command).

I would also like to know about that process just in case I need some help that can't be solved by trial and error?!

Hello. A question for those who use the Mango player. While playing in shuffle, is there a way to go to album or artist from the now playing screen?
Also, is there a better player for the dx 160 that still allows me to use the balanced out and does not drain the battery? I only play local files. So far I didn't install Lurker or anything like that and the battery does not last too long, maybe 4 to 5 hours in high gain with a balanced out
Thank you

You can use balanced out with any player installed on the DX. That is not decided by the player, but by the OS/drivers. I can't answer your first question, as I don't use Mango player much at all. To answer your next question (IMO) I think that UAPP, Neutron, and Hiby app all are better players.

That sounds about right for balanced out on the DX, though the Lurker mod optimizes battery life for a lot of things in the DAP (Including the apps I mentioned). Right now UAPP is having some battery drain issues, but is being worked on by the dev. This is a quote from @superuser1 on the subject:
I managed to get in touch with the dev of UAPP and told him what the problem was. He took a few hours to check and came back with a solution and explained that he changed some codes for Android 11 which was causing the problem and he would change that code so it doesn't affect devices not running Android 11 and that all would be good. SO be sure to get the next update when it comes out.
There are probably a ton of other players out there, but those 3 are the best I can think of, and they are all bit-perfect like Mango. The other "good" players are not bit-perfect, ie... Foobar, Mediamonkey, Black Player, etc... Foobar being known for their excellent add-on modules (not too sure about the android version though), Mediamonkey has some really good sort and tagging options, and Black Player being a great player for simplicity. They all have excellent (different) features, so if you can live with not having bit-perfect, then check some of those out, or discover some I didn't mention. At worst, you don't like them and can simply uninstall them.

Whats the max # of hours on dx160 using 4.4 balanced on medium volume?
There is no max hours. It is android, so it will depend on gain settings, volume, what music player, what type of music files played, wireless, BT, other apps running, screen brightness, resolution, etc... iBasso says it is capable of up to 13 hours, but I have never seen that. I might get 9 hours one day, but 4 another (or less).

I would say between 8-9h but it depends of many variables. Most of time I use Neutron and battery drains faster than Mango player.

When I use IEMs balanced I get 11 to 12 hours at a good volume.

I'm just after the sound quality. Will not use wifi/bluetooth, just local 16 bit 44.1 flac files stored on sd card. What do you think is the best player/settings to use to maximize the battery? Tia

What settings/player used sir? I assume everything is turned off/brightness down & minimal use of the screen?
I normally use high gain but a normal listening level, I want my ears to last, often FLAC but regular resolution. I don't use the screen much as I am listening to the music.
