Personally, i prefer SR15 in SQ. It feels more warm and organic.

However, DX160 is a more complete package overall (full Android, big screen, USB-C etc.).

Significant price difference, too.

Nothing will go wrong with either of it.
I got to say DX160 has the edge over SR15 with bigger soundstage and a higher level of resolution.

Sounds like the SR15 has more of a midbass push; is this accurate?

I am enjoying the DX160 very much.

I have been driving the Focal Stellia balanced and the size of the stage and the layering is pretty awesome. A little bit of a surprise to be honest. Both male voice and female are extremely good.

I wonder if it's an upgrade from the DX90 SQ wise...

Yes you are right. The DX160 is more revealing.

Is the sound quality that much better? The dx160 is almost the same price as zx300a, cheaper than the a100 and less than half the price of the zx500.
I have the ZX300 and the DX160 is superior to it in terms of SQ.

I just started listening to the DX160 critically last night after burning in all week. It has opened up and sounds pretty amazing. I thought it sounded great before but now...wow. I am absolutely surprised. It's driving the LCD2's without a problem as well as the Ether2's. Both sound fantastic, but the LCD2's sound less warm than the Ether2. The difference is pronounced. I am thoroughly enjoying this one. To my ears it's a huge improvement over the DX150.

Have you ever heard the Questyle QP1R / QP2R? I wonder how it sounds compared to them as they are the only non-iPod DAPs I have ever heard.
