January 23rd IIRC, but they're shutting down for the holidays now. The retail chain that thinks I'm working right now also have some stores in China.

In my dreams, the Fuel-cell powered DX70 will use the ES9018 and offer 50 hours of flac playback. But more realistically, the DX50 I'm thinking of (and so are Ibasso now!) will be a DAP based on the DAC and amp from the D7. Not a "statement DAP" like the DX100, but a very good DAP at a reasonable price, more like $400 to $500.

Lol, if it doesn't use ES9018 no one will care, with WM8740 you can mod a Teclast T51 and reach very high-end performance - http://akiccyo-zakki.blogspot.com/2011/02/t51.html

I wrote a complex algorithm for deciding on my next PMP. I won't bore you with all the lines of code but  the first step can basically be described as "Android or GTFO".

Yes, better UI and please, 25 hours battery life.

Teclast are so lazy, I'm unhappy with them, they announced the Teclast X29 and Teclast T59 in March, 2011 I think...

Now what do we have since then?  A spaceship with 7 hours battery life.  OK.

Here's what I wrote to them this morning (It's 9 am here and my boss thinks I'm working):

And just one more thing for your consideration - my perfect DAP (The DX50) would basically be the D7 with Android on top, headphone output optimised for IEMs and line out to use with a more powerful amp when needed. No digital output, 32gb onboard flash and a slot for MicroSD. If you could sell that for $499 with a real-world battery life around the 10 hour mark, I would buy it in a heartbeat.

Sure, only 32gb on board because you need less music when listening to tiny IEMs.

32gb plus micro SD, to save on cost. Judging by the number of iTouch owners on this board, 64 gigs will be enough for most. I though I needed more, but I just sold off my 160gb Cowon X7. 64gb will be enough for me, especially when you consider the streaming capabilities that comes with Android.

And regarding facepalm - The Implied Facepalm beats the Epic Facepalm. Thanks for your constructive input.

I strongly disagree with you on the 32 gb versus 64 gb issue. Wrong, wrong, wrong place to save a small amount of money....!

However I am with you fully on the Implied Facepalm.

You're welcome.

Price different between 32gb and 64gb is small. If we are going to store FLAC, 32gb is insufficient. Not forgetting videos, if any.

The problem is, it's not a small amount. 32gb seems to be the sweet spot at the moment but if they can do 64gb onboard for $500, I'm in. Heck, go for $400 and blow the iTouch sonically out of the water while still matching its price. That would be pretty damn awesome.

Emailed iBasso with the question regarding differences of the first and the second batch. Also asked about preorder price for the second batch. The answers were:

Hi,
Thank you for your email.
First, this batch of the DX100 is our first batch of production. The second batch is exactly same as the first batch.
Second, we will start taking 2nd batch pre-order after we back from our holiday. We will provide some discount, but undecided.

Sincerely
iBasso Audio

You can request iBasso to make a special 32gb version for you while the rest of us will take the 64gb one. Cool?
