What cable is needed for the optical? i guesss should be mini to toslink? Id appreciate if someone can recomend me a good cable that works for the D100 to my DAC..

I have always used sysconcepts out of Canada. They can produce custom optical cables and their 1300 fiber conducts better than glass. Here

I gave it a chance since the issue with the player not playing some of the files was solved so I thought I could enjoy it for a couple of days and do the A/B comparison with the HP-A3.

But, even if I tried to, I did not enjoy it much, the sound was to "bright/sharp" for my taste and I ended up enjoying the HP-A3 better.
The unit was still not completely done with burn-in though, but I don"t remember the HP-A3 to sound this harsh out of the box. I could hear some sort of glare in the upper-mids / lower trebble that I didn't like.
It sounded "digital" when the HP-A3 sounds transparent & right. The bass seems to have a bit more punch and definition in high gain on the DX100, though.

Anyway, I just returned it today

Not my cup of tea I suppose, the metrum quad might suit my tastes better with its different philosophy.

I have done the same but with the DB-2 into the SR71b and the fi.Q and the sound is very open and dynamic. Many options and with the 1.7 firmware, I am a happy camper.

It's pretty strange how even through the Coaxil and Optical these firmwares have an effect on the sound. I was told that it is due to EQ happening in the Digital domain but I've never experienced this before other than with the DX100. I guess in a way it is a good thing as it offers versatility with the least amount of compromise to the signal...

It was quite a shock to me when I first used the Line Out to find the LO output was not fixed? Anyway, used to it now and it is actually quite a nice tool to specifically match different amps

Well when you think of it at least you don't have to worry about completely destroying your ears from accidentally plugging into the Line out. I've had way too many experiences with past DAPs. You are much more likely to do that through the HO on the DX100 and of course if you do that you know its your fault for not looking at the volume before plugging in .

Currently using my 1Plus2's with the DX100 paired with my UHA6MKII (Op Amp 209AP). Amazing sound. Super smooth.... It's actually dangerous because you could easily listen at dangerous volume levels and not notice. Just can't take them out of my ears :p.

So true, did that once..........three days of pain and $200 to see a specialist

Damn 503 pages? I know this has probably been discussed already but with the latest batch and firmware, are you guys able to use services like MOG to download music over the wifi and then play on the DX100 with no degradation on the sound quality?

Some people have used Spotify at 320 kb/s.. so I do not see why not.

Thing is I notice popping and skipping at times when listening to music with Wifi enabled and certain things going on via Wifi. So I'm not so sure if that would be a flawless experience. I'd say it may work but you'd be better served to use that 64GB of on-board storage available to you.

I am not considering streaming over wifi but actually downloading the songs on to DX100's hd. I actually have no use for its wifi other than downloading on MOG.

Thanks for the answers.

Another question is that is it capable of accepting my 64Gb microSD card? Or is it forever limited to 32GB?

I ordered it last night but still haven't received any confirmation or shipping notification. Recent buyers, how long did it take for you guys to receive your unit?

As long as you format the micro SDXC card to FAT32 it will work. I have done this and am using that card in my Rocoo BA/Studio V 3rd ANV. I use a 32GB card in my DX100 since I'm not up to full capacity yet. You'll need to download an external program to allow you to do this. I forgot the name of it but it is a formatter from the UK.

Edit: figured it out. It is called "guiformat.ex". Just download that program once you get the card and run it and it will do its magic for you. Good luck.

Ok, got beat. Anyhow, all these question have already been answered a gazillion times. Search function is a useful tool. There's a Head Gear page for the DX100, and a FAQ in New Articles.
