New firmware has been posted - version 1.2.3 - http://www.ibasso.com/download/DX100%20V1.2.3.zip

Downloading it now to see if there are some release notes in the zip, but will probably hold off installing until someone else is brave enough

Edit - no release notes, just the .img file.

Not sure if it's my hearing but with the latest update, the bass sounds awfully muffled and too much?!

Well thanks for pointing this out spkrs. I trust your ears so I won't waste my time updating to just get pissed off. Two steps forward, five steps backwards :p.

iBasso has stated several times that the firmware does not affect the sound quality of the amp.

Hibino Intersound will be selling the silicon case HC-R10B and screen protector HF-R10 on 30th of August and the SRP are 2000 yen (about 25 USD) and 1000 yen (about 15 USD) respectively.

No muffled bass here. Sounds well integrated to me. I notice art showing up. Listening to the Allman Brothers again. Great fun!

Do you happen to know if they'll ship internationally?

I second this, just received the DX100 and updated to 1.2.3. FLAC artwork would only show up using a 3rd party app to download cover art, now it automatically displays if artwork is embedded. Pretty nice!

That is the thing

sound is one ting.

User experience is the primary item for an Consumer device as that is the FIRST thing any buyer sees. Regardless if it is the best sounding thing in this known universe.

For the price, that UI should be spit polished great. Not lacking or broke regardless of how utter crap the UI is for the competiton. Broken is broken.

I accept that the DX100 a niche product and that iBasso dont have the funds of some slicker companies out there for R&D, and I am willing to overlook any minor UI niggles.
For me the main concern in a product like this is the sound, followed by battery life, size and weight. As long as I can easily find and play my music...thats all I am interested in.

I have other "All in One" units for phone\internet\movies....I just want a player that gives me the best sound possible in a portable unit.
Perhaps in the future high end players can be made smaller and lighter with long battery life....until then I am happy to ignore any minor quibbles to achieve the best sound I can.

Out of curiosity, I wonder how many people that have had "issues" are Apple users and Android newbies?

Engineers are expensive. Every hour an engineer spends working on a product will be added to the final cost of that product. For Ibasso to sell the DX100 at $829 they had to choose where to spend their budget: Sound quality or software. I think they made the right call.
