I just downgraded from version 1.4.2 to 1.2.7. After that got done it shutdown by itself. When i restarted it, i get is the startup splash screen all the time. It doesn't shut down. I even tried the reset button multiple times, but no dice. Does this mean that the DX100 is bricked?

I dont think it is bricked. Sounds like the player enter a bootloop.

up, once I wanted to install DOC2008's modified firmwares. For those purposes I need to use RKBatchTool. However, whatever I did I get the same result as you i.e. I was always getting pink incon in the RKBatchTool. So I resigned from installing those firmwares.
But, I hope that you will have more luck than me and you will manage to do what you want with your dx100:)

Did your DX100 finally work?

BTW: I am using the stock 1.2.7 firmware from iBasso's website. This is the first this has happened to me since i got the DX100. I have multiple formaware versions without a single hitch.

My dx100 was and is working perfecly fine (I'm on stock 1.2.7). I just wanted to share my experience with you about using RKBatchTool and it was connected with my attempts to install the modified firmwares of DOC2008 and not with any problems with my dx100.
I just couldn't force RKBatchTool to recognize my dx100 although I followed all the required steps.

I am getting an error from Windows Update saying that "Device Driver software was not successfully installed"

Edit: Now i am still getting the same pink color icon.

Have you installed manually the drivers from the archive?

Which archive?

I had installed stock 1.2.7 today. After it installed i restarted the DX100, after which it got suck on the splash screen. Later after resetting it only the "DX100" text shows up and then it gets stuck.

The problem is that when i connect the DX100 to the computer, it shows up as 2 removable drives, instead of being recognized as the DX100.

you have to turn on your DX100. then HOLD volume UP and press RESET. after that you can connect DX100 to PC

Already did that multiple times. Doesn't work. Still shows up as 2 removable drives only without being recognized. Booted up, pressed the volume up bitton, then pressed the reset button for 1o seconds, then connected to PC. No use.

Edit: Annoyingly it shows up as a USB device under Hardware devices. But under My Computer it doesn't show up as USB, only as 2 removable disk drives.
