The rate per album does seem high, but that's not the way I did the calculation...

  1. It comes on a nice seagate usb hard drive, which has value for me.
  2. it comes in a variety of formats ready to listen to so I can spend more time listening and less time ripping
  3. I did consider spending that much on a really nice set of headphones, and I probably will, but I decided what I really wanted was something to listen to

Some may only get one or two hearings, but I've decided to have three "albums of the week" from the set so I can listen to them all and give them justice...

Fortunately my shirt collection was updated a couple of months ago, so people can rest assured that I won't be forced into bare back listening...

So you get 50 albums for 895 GBP ... that works out at 17.90 GBP (29 USD) per album ... and how many of those are you actually going to listen to more than twice ?

I read somewhere that listing to music naked, is better for SQ...... Not joking.

Yes, I agree this is the most likely explanation. You're going to have to make it up somehow ... maybe flowers? I wouldn't go with chocolates though. Perhaps a nice inlaid lacquered box in which the DX can snooze at night?

Anyhow, no volume problems with my DX100 today. So maybe the screen got activated and something touched to increase the volume. It was in my pouch hanging off my belt when it happened. I wasn't sitting on it I think, but someone else was sitting next to me on the train. The trains can get crowded in Tokyo.

Isn't there a phase in HDP-R10's release (Hibino) stating the 4800mah battery is in compliance with Japanese Electrical Appliance and Material Safety Law?

4800mAh の大容量リチウムポリマーバッテリーを搭載予定 ( 電気用品安全法に対応)。

Maybe the original design (2000mah @ 8.4v) doesn't comply with Japanese safety law for such device so they have to lower it to 4.2v, which explains the 4800mah.

Yes it's the phrase I quoted and Google translated in red. That's why I posted it as a question "Is the DX100 non-compliant with Japan's battery laws...[snip!]".

I tend to listen whilst commuting and that sort of thing is generally frowned upon on the Metropolitan Line...

Although a friend of mine did mistakenly submit a paper on pubic transport infrastructure so all things are possible...

You're only fooling yourself. Soon enough you'll have the upgrade bug. It'll start with after market silver buttons, then you'll be dying to try out a balanced shirt with a seperate sleeve for each arm. Next you'll be lured in by the seductive sound of tube tops .... it's a vicious never ending cycle.

Gratz on the new tunes. I've been looking over that collection and there are a bunch in there that I'd like to make mine.

That's good news. Sounds like a one off. I had my shuffle turn on when I'd swear I didn't touch the screen. But now I'm convinced something must have brushed it. Instant full volume is not a bug I could live with.

No, I can absolutely confirm that the 'shuffle' feature does randomly switch itself on, with no human intervention.

This classical music all done by artists long time ago when they did or did not have any ORIGINAL recordings by them (Mozart, beethoven etc.)? What I am trying to say back then some 200 years ago did they actually recorded their music or was only their music left on paper and a thousand or so Cover Bands been replaying them?

I'm no expert but the phonograph (first piece of equipment able to reproduce sound) was invented in 1878, I believe. All music was written down on paper. Sheet music can be quite accurate and complex and if a symbol doesn't exist for a certain type of expression or technique one can be made up.

Another thing is all the great music of long ago was practiced and performed regularly throughout the centuries. There is some artistic interpretation when it comes to classical music (more so romantic, less so renaissance or baroque) but overall traditionally classical sheet music and performance doesn't leave much room for improvisation. Share the same score between 20 different orchestras and as long as they're all classically trained they should reproduce the music as intended with only subtle differences.

It sounds like we may have been off base regarding how to properly apply a flat EQ to the DX100's output.  I asked the following question of iBasso and had this response:

"The EQ is difficult to determine how to properly set to get straight flat response from the DX100 with no EQ or artificial "Android boost".  Any advice here would be appreciated."

-------Just keep the EQ closed, and the EQ is bypassed.

to iBasso
Hi,
Anybody noticed that if you open the EQ and reset it to zero (as advised by many), and restart the Dx100 then while playing a song , open the EQ menu and hit reset, although the values do not change from  zeros, there is a change in sound. All this is done while the EQ is opened and I never closed it (as to on off EQ)

Thank you

to me
Hi,
Thank you for the bug report.
We will double check this, and fix this bug on the new firmware.

Sincerely

I'd think, the most important feature iBasso should have addressed in this update.
Quote:
For those who prefer using the menu "Directory" rather than "All Music" or "Albums" to access their music, it is worth pointing out that there is no dropdown "Play All" menu available when long-pressing an album or folder. This also precludes shuffling within an album. (when using "Directory") This has been brought to iBasso's attention for correcting in a future update.

So who's preferring PowerAmp's sound over stock here?
Wasn't it the general consensus that the stock player sounded better than PowerAmp on the last firmware?

And can I confirm that flac tagging is fixed on v 1.1.0?
