Its not even comparable, D16 is better than DC Elite by miles.
thanks.
It seems from my reading of impressions here by some that the d16 sounds more musical and real (life like) than the Chord Hugo 2.
How about d16 ability to image and resolve details compared to Hugo 2.

The hugo2 has more top end sparkle, might be perceived as more detailed but I find just as much with the D16, just delivered differently. Hugo2 has more bass kick and I reckon a bigger sound stage, but that could also be the extra top end. The D16 is more organic. Hugo more excitable.

thanks for you own impressions. It seems both are "on par" but different. I becoming more convinced that I would prefer how the sound/music is presented by D16 over the Hugo 2.

D16 is like a hot chocolate, the hugo2 a sugary coffee

I kind of get the metaphor. would you like to elaborate more in audio terms for me?
personally I'm a coffee drinker and don't like hot chocolate. :) so metaphor is lost on me.

in audio terms its translated to balanced sound vs "v" shaped sound

we are still talking about very little differences/nuances tho.

wonder how many of us D16 lovers (me included) would be succesful in blind test vs some other, lets say 200$ dacamp 😁

You are underestimating a lot of people in this hobby. Perhaps, if you cant tell the differences between a $200 dac/amp to a D16, then I honestly am glad for you. That is such a blessing, because being able to tell the differences = wallet damaging.

Please, do never go there

Post from dc elite said something like: while the d16 has bigger soundstage with better bass and treble extensions, that details are about the same on both dc elite and d16? Confused because I've also read that d16 is on par with Hugo 2.

yeah, it is really great, not exactly same level as my desktop - Flux Mentor + R26, but it is very, very close with normal headphones (not very hard to drive) It drives my Aryas great, without problem..
wondering how ibasso d16 as dac only compare to your Gustard r26
thanks
