Ibasso 1 bit Discrete portable DAC with Resistors Array D16

My first listening session yesterday with the Denon AH-D7200 was really amazing and it seems that it continues with the EXT today.

The volume management isn’t that difficult to learn once you get used to the massive dynamics of the D16

This fatigue free listening is something complete new for me to this degree.
Very "smooth", balanced and controlled at any volume.

DX320max with usb out (ddHiFi) to d16 to balanced out cfa trifecta is so addictiv. D16 let it sound very balanced in the treble and higher mids region with a lot of trifectas bass power.

I don't like trifecta with only 320max due to sometimes too harsh tending highs and kinda aenamic mids, but with d16 it's marvelous! My new favorite combo for a great iem.

Please try Coax out, I feel it's much better compared to USB since you are using Ibasso.

Provided one is good enough but a custom Sommer one is even better!

Congrats! That’s what I did. I only kept the XD05 Pro for the (hopefully soon to be released) R2R module

Would you think that the D16 is way better sounding than the XD05 or the difference is more subtle? I am looking for a portable solution for my LCD-5. And just the dac/amps themselves (so without PB5, etc.)

Not enough power to power LCD5.
Sounds distorted or of gas driving LCD5 using D16.
I have it. Tested it and dislike it.
Only my arsenal AMP is the PrimaLuna HP tube Int Amp with 11 W going through HP section only. Plenty of power for LCD5.
VOLUME POT AT 8 TO 9 o'clock position and sound Loud already. Starting from 6 o'clock.

Haven't try Aegis tube hp amp yet, but D16 as a DAC only should very good for any amp....

I don't like headphones that are hard to drive. I do have the Abyss and the Expanse and the D16 does very well with both.

Checked it. And cannot confirm. Either coax cable and path needs burn in or i hear it just different to you. Or i need a better coax ^^

(Much) less dynamics, less separation, less air, narrowed stage versus usb.

Not sure coax required burned in or not.
But coax sounds better to me.

Really love the sound of the D16 headphone out even more now thank to these Black Gate capacitors! The DX320max really stand no chance now. The addition of Black Gate capacitor enhances the soundstage size, increases bass impact, and offer more liquid and organic presentation. According to Vince, this only affect the headphone out only. The stock D16 sounds clean and resolute but the mod really make the D16 that much more musical.

I see your capacitors are blackgate FK;but searching on internet the only I found are the blackgate F..are those the same?

So for DAPs that don't have coax out, like Hiby R8ii, would it make any difference if you get the usb c to 3.5mm coax and connect the R8ii to the D16 using that instead of straight usb c to usb c?

I would recommend USB C in your scenarios
