Have any of you guys heard the Onix Mystic XP1?

It costs the same as the D16, but hasn't gotten near as much attention. (It is quite different in terms of DAC architecture though).

This review compares them at the end:

Never heard it but have compared to the Hugo and the D16 has better dynamics and transparency than the Hugo 2 and cleaner bass impact.

Thanks for the information, I go and read about it now.
Right now, I really been enjoying my Ibasso D16 + PB5 combo with Audio Technica ATH-IEX1, sounds really surreal!

I also feel D16 beats Hugo2.

You are right that it would be fun to have more comparison info between D16 and Onix XP1, after all they are in the same price range and both "transportable" DAC/AMP. What I would have loved is if Headfonics would have connected them both in LO to the same amp, like PB5 so we could have more "objective" info on their DAC sound signature without the influence of their amp section. My interpretation of the Headfonics review makes it sound like D16 is more neutral but at the same time they write more analog, go figure! In theory at least, I would assume that the D16 DAC would have a more natural, analog sound and the AKM driven XP1 DAC would have a more "digital" sounding signature DAC section. Anyway, that's all fun to write about but it's those folks that have the pleasure to listen to both that have all the real fun! :beerchug:

Congrats! That’s what I did. I only kept the XD05 Pro for the (hopefully soon to be released) R2R module.

Most people selling off DC-Elite have/had upgraded to D16. Should I skip the DC-Elite, If I don't need the portability?

The improvement is massive. If added Ibasso PB5 Osprey in the chain, it's even better!

Very cool! That is good to know. I am actually going to sell the VC. Planning to list them here soon. I got them for recording music and listening to music. Unfortunately, they leak just enough sound for my sensitive mic to pic up the sound of a metronome etc. Just bought the CA Stellar Horizon to take the VC place. Probably a pretty unique use case here. Other than that, I really love the VCs... So beautiful to look at and listening experience.

Ty 👍

So does that mean, that if you don't stop the dial in the exact right place, that there are channel imbalances? Is this a big deal with the D16?
It clicks into place. I don't find it an issue at all.
