Strangely I found Coax sound the best with Mango App in Android through 320M. The MangoOS coax is a bit smoother out and blurred on some of the textures

No issues with mangoOS as far as I have tested. Yes! The later Mango Android is better than UAPP. I suspect that lately, Ibasso has invested a lot more into AndroidOS

Hmm, wonder why I've got no output through native mango then. Odd one.

One thing I did notice is Mango Android was also nno sound out direct from lib / dir folders, had to scan / add to get output.

Sometimes it may need a reboot because the coax out is auto triggered

Are you using coax or usb ? I only use Coax nowadays

I didn't find the difference subtle using my desktop streamer but could be biased because of the volume difference which always makes me prefer the louder source usually and it's hard to do real A-B without cleanly volume matched sources.
So is Coax also much louder using DX320 Max or not?

Yes coax is louder than usb from 320 MAX

Today really recognized a big difference USB vs Coax using my EVERSOLO DMP-A6 Master and switching back and forth.
First Coax is around 2 clicks louder than USB with connected PB5 powering ZMF VC in my Demo in high gain
2nd I found presentation to be more clear and holografic vs more laid back using USB.
Tried DC Elite as DDC from USB to Coax though lacking a correctly poled IC so it's a bit playing around with the DC Elite insertion using some 3 pole cable but can be made working.
4 pole Adapter is arriving soon for further testing. Nevertheless I recognized that the volume was playing at USB level.
So I am not sure if that solution will bring any advantages or being really comparable vs a true Coax connection end to end

Will stick to Coax for stationary listening now and due to the DC Elite experience wondering if something like a DX260 is performing on the same level as my stationary streamer rig.

Any more impressions about for example DX320 Max vs DX260 as pure Coax streamers into D16?

I am also waiting on a cable for elite to D16 - tested at source and its working (4pole>2pole) but needs to ship. Using the supplied cable and awkward insertion, volume is same between usb direct to D16 or thru Elite as coax, as you mentioned, but there is difference in sound as you noticed with Eversolo. Its a bit fuller, bass is rounder, more relaxed, slightly better separations. But its all a bit of a nuisance with the extra box, battery drain and cable jiggle solution.

So I am also wondering about DX260 (or even Fiio M11S at 1/2 the price and can use the custom coax cable I just bought) to skip the use of Elite in a transportable setup. Maybe I will feel better once the proper cable comes in, but still curious....

Coax into DAC. I did find even in Android a PITA for handshake but sorted that, Mango native still no joy. Not a deal breaker but annoying not being able to figure it out. Job for another day...

How is the battery consumption of the D16? How long does it last if connected to IEMs that are not particularly difficult to drive? Does it have a selector to prevent the battery from charging for desktop use such as the solution implemented in FiiOs when connected to a computer? Thank you.

I have not tried to drain it down yet, I unplug and replug to charge once every 5 hours or so during burn in. It was said to have built in protection to stop charging at 80% automatically, it once was drained down and I didn’t pay attention to time it. But I realized that once it stoped charging, it would not start charging again until a replug

Brief update regarding purchase of some 4 pole SE adapter to enable DDC function with DC Elite into D16

Connection was established without issues using the smaller SE IC bundled with D16
The bigger stiffer one had some connection issues more likely due to the custom adapter.
So such an affordable adapter can be a quick and cheap way for DC Elite and D16 owners to get the USB to Coax function working.

Downside: That adapter isn't plugging in completely/seems a little too long and is thereby a little unstable, better though than trying to make some 3 pole cable work.
For people trying to get some custom 4 pole cables built for that purpose only the length of the male connector seems to be really important.
For a stationary non moving situation such a compromise might work but not for moving around if the fit isn't perfect

No but I've ordered some ddhifi TC100S which is even cheaper.

He just looked at me and said, I can't find any faults with this DAC. I know that with the 1000s he has in his system, he was hoping to, just to justify and feel better about his investment. I can understand that. He said for 2 or 3 times the asking price, he would buy the D16 and is ordering one. :^)

With my DX300MAX Ti , D16, PB05 stack. VS.
ALO Studio-Six TubeAmp(4100 usd) + PrimaLuna EVO 100 TUBE DAC(3400USD) + CD Transport ( 2400 usd )
I feel iBasso stack trumps the other stack by some margin.

using Stellia, Utopia, Emp2, HE1000SE, Meze Liric

Bass region is tighter and enhanced. 3 dimensional sounds with pinpoint imaging.
More nuisance sounds I never heard of before.
Bring you to the Venue of that band played: you can feel and somewhat imagined it would be.
Treble with clarity and not edgy.....
Mid is superb....

The only category that ALO STUDIO-SIX tube amp has the edge over iBasso max stack is the airiness and open of the mid, especially voice...with certain expensive tubes of course like 6SN7, 6V6, and RECTIFIER tube.

Makes me wonder if about time to sell other stack. I might not sell because it looks very nice at night and I could use my TT with ALO stack......

Well, let turn On my OG Terminator R2R DAC and see later.....
