Where are the pictures @purk ? Congratulation on a job well done on the D16 :)
Thanks @Whitigir for helping me voiding the warranty!

Really love the sound of the D16 headphone out even more now thank to these Black Gate capacitors! The DX320max really stand no chance now. The addition of Black Gate capacitor enhances the soundstage size, increases bass impact, and offer more liquid and organic presentation. According to Vince, this only affect the headphone out only. The stock D16 sounds clean and resolute but the mod really make the D16 that much more musical.

I have a Whiplash USB cable that is correctly made with the D+ and D- twisted and shielded and the ground and V exterior to the ground and twisted. But the connectors are mini and USB A so I changed it to USB C on both end and OTG.

Comparing it to the silver USB I made but braided, it is better. I know to use shielding. The Whiplash is also made of TWau cable vs the solid silver cable I made the other day.

I am really enjoying the D16. Some music in the past I didn't enjoy, because it was flat the D16 is able to pull out the depth and layering and making the sound so much more realistic. Not sure how it does it but I am thankful because there are a number of recordings I thought would never be presentable, musically, that now have the tonality and quality to bring real enjoyment.

You should try the Blackgate capacitors mod on yours. Now the headphone output is noticeably better sounding than that of the DX320Max. The line out is unaffected of course.

Did you do the mod yourself? How big of an improvement does it bring to the sound?
I'm hesitating between the DC-Elite and the D16. Does the latter worth the price difference?
The works were done by @purk . I only gave courses of advices. You can see his previous posts about improvements. But that only net in improvements for phones out.

Now, speaking from stock forms, even Dx320Max pales in comparison in timbres and analogues performances. I don’t think an inferior in technicality such as DC-Elites can compete. However, and it is a big however, the differences may not be as big when you are using in ear buds.

The D16 can show a lot of things, and one of that is a huge differences between a full sizes and along full sizes , VS IEMS

Though, from what I have seen posted, if you only want a dongle, then you only have one option

Hi,

How do I connect DX300MAX out to D16?
Only through 3.5 coaxial from DX300MAX to 3.5 coaxial of D16?

Just receive D16 now....
You can use the coax or the USB C they provide. You have to push in on the little knob on the D16 to change the setting.

Push and hold to access the menu on that little knob. You will be able to access the setting menu. Just select coaxial or USB under input setting.

Ok. Plugged all 3 units in:

DX300MAX Ti + D16 + PB5

I initially used the High Grade 3.5 mm Coaxial cable that came with it then later switched to my Silver Dragon usb C. Also using DDhifi 4.4mm to 4.4.4mm connector from D16 to PB5.

Use Empyrean II.
Later on will be OG UTOPIA, HE1000SE, STELLIA, LIRIC, LCD-5, 109 PRO

What a sound, especially how impressive the holographic the D16 produces. Never hear anything like this. Let it burn in......more.

Wide soundstage, imaging, dynamic, tonality, timbre

Very happy now....put a big smile on me now.

So guys, today arrived my d16:ksc75smile:, after the first minutes I must say, the sound is exceptional... but I have a question for you about the 2 volumes. So the displayed volume (small wheel) is for the dac (digital volume, also for line out) and the big wheel is hardware volume for the amp section? Does the displayed volume (probably the digital volume) affect the dynamic range? is it better to keep it on max and use only the hardware volume? many thanks in advance for your toughts...

Congrats!
all yes to your questions for maximum performance.
Depending on IEM/headphone, I am going for low gain or high gain, advantage with lower gain and then cranking up the analogue steps is that the steps are a little more granular than on high gain.
I am reducing digital volume down from 100 only if the steps are too big and the previous analogue step isn't loud enough
