I also own the DX320 MaxTi and love it as well but I found the PB5+D16 on another level with my HD800s.
Agreed
I agree, the D16 + PB5 is the highest fidelity.. erm.. “portable” source I’ve heard.
Agreed and also desktop in my experiences, but everyone has their own boats 😊

I have been listening to this stack Non stop , except sleeping time…I never listened this much… may go deaf soon

I just made a new coax cable. People say that digits are digits but it sounded bright and brittle at first. In a word, horrible for high end audio. I have made coax ics in the past but this is from a special cryo pure silver inner conductor with teflon. The resistance is about 1 ohm per foot. So I wouldn't do a long run but it was very expensive stuff a friend gave me some time back.

Anyway, starting to smooth out but I am still surprised at how it treaded the digital signal. :^)

Same here !! Got myself 6 cores pure silver and 2 cores pure gold with Amethyst. It needs burn in for sure, sounds dry and sterile the first 15 hours. Now, it gets better and better, the staging extended in all axis, and the dynamic textures are all improved

I don't have a D16 (yet) but I am astonished at how well the RU7 into PB5 pair with the 64 Audio Trio's

RU7 and N7 are similar to the D16 in the topology. The implementation and architecture wise, the D16 wins. It is safe to say if you like those Cayin, the D16 will rake up your smiles

Nice..:thumbsup:I have RU7 and planned to buy D16 as my "endgame" for my IEMs only (not very high end - Monarch Mk3 and Xenns Top) so maby to add PB5 is also a possible choice.. (unfortunatelly the combo D16+PB5 is too expensive for me)

I honestly do not think that you need PB5 to drive iems. The D16 amp out is very powerful of 1150mW into 32ohms and is amazing at that. I drive my hd800s out of it and enjoying it a lot. This way, I can take away PB5 and enjoying more solid state amplification.

Only add in PB5 when you really desire the tube harmonic

Many thanks  , I thought the same.. D16 alone will be the best choice (only for IEMs). In desktop, I use R26+S17pro and Im happy with this combo..

Great😀 that should be awsome, if you make some comparison between RU7, Elite and D16 and your opinions will be very appreciated..

D16 is still powerful enough to drive most demanding dynamic loads such as the HD800.

Just briefly, am still burning in.
DC Elite is more reveilling with a transparent wide stage and thumping bass presentation.
RU7 is closer to D16 in DSD128 to my ears as it's more organic smooth there vs DSD256 but overall D16 is more technical capable to my ears, it sounds really organic and smooth (like RU7 in DSD128 but with more texture and stage depth).
Adding PB5 will add additional space thinking of hall vs club plus some slight sugar coating and reverb.
Had a 3 hour listening session with Aroma Fei Wan and that one is technical transparent and thumping with DC Elite but fatiguing after an hour latest for me as it is tending to sound sibilant and peaky with certain tracks.
With D16 (plus some brain) burn in that IEM gets listenable over all hours with better timbred vocals and analogue deep bass.
Harshness and sibilance is tamed.
Great synergy

Agreed, because Dcelite is basically a sigma delta vs RU7 which has similar topology

thanks for the insights and agree that Fei Wan isnt great with DCElite. Starts to get sibilant and whilst its all very technical, it's just devoid of tension and emotion.

Another nudge towards considering D16. My hesitation is that while Ru7/N7 have a great sense of 'flow' to the music, i found them short in dynamics to my taste and wonder if D16 is the same.
