Can you say the same for the R10?

Sounds like the endless debate of the Stax Omega2 superior "resolution" versus the Sony R10 superior "tone".

Here are some reviews that might disagree:

Oh no, it begins again!

Mercuttio

Not for me, I have now what I will have for quite a while.

Enjoying the music...always first and last and sometimes in the middle but I get a little confuse in the middle.

I've been telling people about the AD2000's. They're one of my favorite headphones without regard to price. I'm not sure what it is about them exactly. It must be their "romantic" sound signature that is ever so alluring. Every time I listen to them, it just makes me feel good inside. Anyway, congrats and welcome to the AD2000 lovers club.

I agree...I've always wanted a pair of hd650. Now that i can afford it, i had to be "itchy" and went to audition the ad2000. The ad2000 absolutely destroys the 650, 701, 880, sa5k. There's just something about it, an x-factor you might say. Ok, i think i'll get it tomorrow...maybe...i want it but it's still $500+ and i have to be sure. Will audition it more.

Destroy is a bit harsh, don't you think? Few cans can destroy the 650,701's, & 880's..

Check on eBay. There is sometimes a seller out of Hong Kong that has good prices. I think there is a pair listed now for $560 or so. I got mine from a Chinese student named Benny in Hong Kong that was doing a business school project by selling headphones. He would just go to a local audio dealer, buy them, and then ship them over as a "gift" (customs trick). Singapore is also a good place if you have any contacts. Shipping and handling is what usually gets you in the end. If you know anyone that travels to Hong Kong on business, that seems to be the cheapest place I have found (about $535 USD). Regardless of the price, I would gladly pay almost any (reasonable?) sum for what I hear in these phones. They are really and truly that good.

I second the opinion that they really do blow away the HD650s. I can't even listen to them anymore. I will be putting them up for sale soon... with the Cardas cable.

Good luck!

David

...ordered mine from PriceJapan. USD 523 including huge shipping fees to Germany, PayPal fees and everything. Pretty ok I think
