don't hate the triporter, hate the triport.

actually, i'd say they are a perfectly fine $40 pair of headphones.

I don't really care for the triports either. I will agree that they were pretty comfy, but no doubt I wouldn't pay more than $40 for a pair. Do yourself a favor and go pick up one of the other recommendations, you will be much happier

Sorry to hijack, but a quick question. So how does one convince someone, say, out of the all the Bose hype? My 15 year old cousin got some triports for his birthday and his whole family still gawks at the pretty "Bose" sticker. It's like they think it's the end all be all of audio? *Note this happens still even after they had to send them to Bose for a new pair after the left driver shot the craps in ONE week*

The scary part is when I brought over my SR-225's and amp, they weren't convinced that there was that much of a difference?!?!?!?!

Are they just so engorged in the Bose name that their ears have "grown stupid"? My uncle also made fun of the retro styling, but that I can handle

.

What do you say Head-fier's? Should I lead my cousin down a head-fi journey

, or just let ignorance be bliss?

Making fun of 225's!?! I can't believe such sacrilege!

For most people, it takes awhile to learn to hear the difference. Hand someone a Portapro or better for a couple of days....and they will really see the truth of the Triport when they go back to it. Once they hear it, it will be obvious from that point on.

That's what I said!!! Personally I think they look freakin sweet. Anyways, I just couldn't believe that they couldn't hear a gigantic difference. You are probably right though, I've been on my 225's for a while and when I listened to the Triports...

. I guess once you've gone Head-fi, you can never go back. O well

Hi Everyone... new member, but long time headphone freakkk

I posted this over at Headwize just a couple of days ago. I think it's relevant here..

"So, a buddy of mine at work needed some "full size" headphones to use at work, home etc. Now, I'm considered a bit of a headphone geek in my office, so he came to me for advice. Being the kind of guy to share the love, I allowed him to try my DT880's, HD280's, HD555's, HD580's and SR60's, all driven very nicely through my Creek OBH21.
Excitedly, he emailed me yesterday, saying that he'd decided, over the weekend, to buy headphones. "Come to my desk and we'll share your joy..." I said, gazing lovingly at my 280's. He came down to show me his...Bose Triports. $150.

Sigh."

Take a pencil and marker to the "e" on the "Bose" sticker: Erase the horizontal line in the middle, and connect the circle...

LOL!!! Probably wouldn't work though, they would just claim "Ooohh, it's a Limited edition Bos-o model...I paid an extra $50 for that feature", then an hour later or so I'd get a phone call..."Andrew, these Bos-o's sound even better than the first ones we got, and still a heck of a lot better than your ugly lookin Graaedo or whatever headphones. You should get some of these here Triports!"
biggrin.gif

Oh, Bose. You truely are the masters of marketing...

They feel very light on the head. They're cheaper than $180 now, maybe 100-120 online. I have some DT250s in the mail. Perhaps I'll do a little in store comparing after I get them.

Every time I've seen a pair of these at a listening station in a Best Buy, etc., they're falling apart-- earcups broken off from the headband, headband overextended and broken, etc. Just a mess.

I thought the noise cancellation feature of the quiet comfort ones was kind of cool, but not at that sort of price!
