I love minidisc - is that weird?

Wow!  What a throwback!  I had a Sharp Minidisc back in the day, probably still at my parent's house.  I remember it cost me a small fortune and carried like 6 discs around in my backpack.   While I do feel nostalgia for the format, ripping CD's and carrying around all that stuff is something I can live without.  If I need to stop shuffling music, I just get a glass of wine and chill.

In my home town a Sony specialist shop still stocks blank MD's because three persons (I am one of them) buy these disc. One of the three clients is a professional radio DJ so as longs as he buys the discs the shop will stock them. Lucky me.

Could it be possible that Sony will do a limited edition rerelease of the RH1?

I loved mine.  Certainly easier adding songs to it then messing with Apple and their Itunes software.
I could record straight from the radio!  Minidisc was an awesome technology.

Believe it or not.
I have filled one mini disc (that's all I have) with all my favorites and it is now my main player for the past couple of days. I use it with my favorite all time iem Sony EX300 and set the R90 with mega bass 2.
My zx2 & zx1 are taking time out:stuck_out_tongue:

Anyone know why music loaded via Sonicstage with the help of MZ-NE410 (has the micro usb connection to pc) onto regular Sony red color mini disc is not playing in the MZ-R90 recordable mini disc player.

i am puzzled because the mini disc is playing in the regular NE410 and not playing in the recordable R90 mini disc player.

Does the R90 play any disc you have or is it just this one.

Perhaps the playback lazer has gone.

Thanks for your replies.
Both units were bought from a thrift store so I am not sure if they have any defects.
I got the R90 first and since it can't be connected to a computer, I used the optical in to record music into the disc and it records and plays the music loaded that way.
Then I got the NE410 and used Sonicstage to get music on the mini disc via its usb connection. The music transferred and plays only in the NE410 but when I play it in the R90 it is silent(no music through headphones). All the data shows in the R90 eg. Number of tracks, name of song etc. but when it plays the music it is dead silent.
I am not aware of the formats you mentioned but the music I used to load the mini disc where MP3 320 for the Sonicstage and CD for the R90.
The r90 is not reading Sonicstage loaded music but is able to record and play music through its optical in.
Sorry for the long post, hopefully in my layman terminology u can understand what I am saying.
@Badreligion. I recently downloaded the Sonicstage without virus and will paste its website tonight.

MD can't read MP3 or CD, so Sonicstage converts everything ATRAC format then transfers that to the MD. There are a few different types of ATRAC though.

If you can record and playback on the R90 its suggests its all working fine.

Its just that you've used a ATRAC in SonicStage that the R90 doesn't support.  (well spotted gikigill).

I am so confused now!

Does that mean the R90 is MDLP which plays ATRAC3 only and the 410 is SP that plays both ATRAC & ATRAC3?

Does Sonicstage have that option of changing MP3 to ATRAC3 (Since I am sure MP3 was ripped to ATRAC)

Here is where I got the Sonicstage couple of weeks back.

I didnt get any virus from here back then.
