I can't tell the difference between 320kbps and 128 kbps music

Melvins, external USB DAC/AMP's are becoming one of the most popular components in audio, some companies try to cash in on this with $200 silver USB cables.

Recently I was looking at a high-end Coax cable on ebay, I researched how they made it and discovered it was actually 50 ohm, not 75 ohm like a Coax cable should be, so in reality some high-end cables are designed worse, and will give the illusion of expectation that they sound better, after all, altered or weaker sound, can still sound good.

I should note, I suspect this of custom IEM cables too, that some are designed to sound worse than copper.

Ok, I've been listening to these a couple times a day, and I still can't tell the difference. I've tried it with my Etymotic Mc5, Klipsch Image X10, and UE TripleFi 10... What headphones are you guys using if I may ask? All I've got left is a dual element Koss and a PortaPro at home, and I really don't think those are more resolving than the ones with me now.

What do you guys listen for? Is it her voice in the background, its reflection in the right channel, the instruments or harsh chord at the beginning, what? (In reference to the somewhat twangy guitar piece with a girl singing about love on mp3ornot.com)

I did it in 4 turns, whenever I had free time. Not sure how much time it took, it got to the point where I just listened to the one section of the 'x' song and I would decide. It doesn't take very long when you do that.

You guys need to listen to upsampling.

I don't enjoy comparing 128 and 320, it's very dull, 192 and FLAC I think that's more valid, I don't see the point in 320.

Comparing 44.1kHz and 192kHz upsampling with your own music is much more entertaining than these MP3 tests, your flesh wants the extra kiloHertz, you just don't know it yet.
