i'm not seeing them for under 300, where do you see them for 170?

Amazon resellers have the vi for 170, creeped up 10 bucks over the past few days... I've had my eye on this guy's auction from 'apple-rama'

Ultimate Ears TripleFi 10vi Isolating Earphones w/MIC - eBay (item 320459514752 end time Jan-06-10 02:52:38 PST)

I've messaged him several times with no response regarding how he handles the warranty or if he could email a copy of the receipt. So pretty much if I go the Amazon route I'd pay a 20$ premium for the guaranteed 1-yr warranty. At 170$ I don't know if I should still be eyeing the TF10's over say the IE7?

I've heard many great things about the etymotic er-4p's but i've also heard some bad things, i.e the soundstage

I'm pretty sure that IEMs all have bad soundstages, as do all headphones (compared to speakers).

A vote for the etys here.

I'll go for the TF10s -- assuming you have anatomical ears for these 'phones.

Pretty sure he's saying you need to have decent sized ears for these to fit well. Hopefully I'm anatomically fit for these since I just took the plunge paying 156$ w/shipping from an Amazon reseller. Also decided to drop the vi notion since the button sits ~3 inches below the mic, too low for me since I live in a cold climate and prefer wearing the cable under my jacket.

My recommendation: BUY FROM A VERIFIED SELLER!

I got screwed over when I bought from a non-verified seller. The manufacterer would not authorize fulfilling the warranty because the seller was not verified. Saves alot of trouble just to spend a couple extra bucks.

Also, I highly recommend the Head-Direct RE0's. They are amazing, and work perfect for me. Excellent sound stage, unparalleled clarity, and the detail is simply amazing. The bass (although some disagree) is more than enough for me, hits clean and hard and is not over powering. Also, they're easily a $200+ IEM that is still on sale for $79.99 + shipping. Can't beat it!

Head-Direct RE0

At this point you should also consider how you would like to wear your IEMs. For TF10, it can be worn normal, or over the ears. But the size of it is rather big, so you probably get better isolation and stability if worn over ears.

Etys, you wear it normally. But for good isolation and bass punch, you have to insert it deep. Some users complain of the discomfort.

The problem with the Ultimate Ears Triple.fi 10 is that getting a decent fit can be VERY tricky because of its unusual design.

If you're talking under US$200, I'd probably go with the Etymotic HF5 or the Future Sonics Atrio M5 (the latter if you're a "basshead").
