Hugo TT 2 by Chord Electronics - The Official Thread

You won't have an issue with the TT2 unless you are planning to use it with tracking in a DAW. No other application has resulted in any noticeable lag, not even gaming for me. I think you're overestimating how much a 50-60ms lag is noticeable, and maybe you're more sensitive to it than I am, but in all practicality (as you can see by the comments), it's a non-issue.

Maybe you are right. I still feel something is missing if i don´t know that exact number of buffer and ms:triportsad:

If I were to connect to TV with optical, the issue will occur on the mscaler that has this video button right? Not planning to buy it, but the TT2 is ok no need to adjust latency of TV?

Sometimes you have to turn on gaming mode (sometimes it's called differently, generally you have to turn off any advanced picture manipulation) on a tv. As many tvs nowadays have advanced image processing going on, and the latency can be huge while gaming.
Just giving my two cents to the whole latency situation.

From what I gather, basically TT2 is best in measurement compared to any other Chord products?
You'd have to dig out Hi-Fi World's measurements for all three products because one person's measurements are not necessarily comparable to someone else's, as has been demonstrated many times of late.

And would it really matter if TT2 had better SINAD than DAVE? Rob Watts primary focus is his filter implementation and I'm sure he'd argue much of Amir's focus is on nitpicking in areas that are inaudible or of no concern (like the jitter introduced by HMS for example).

That said, I would be curious to see Amir "review" the TT2 as I suspect it would address a lot of his misgivings about the DAVE, certainly the headphone output and UI.

I thought of a funny quip.

Would you rather have a stereo that “measures” better but sounds worse….

Anyone talk about SINAD instead of actual listening with ears, feel free to go Topping/SMSL route. They are not that hard to find :o2smile:.

Dropp THX 789 measures great, but I never heard a more boring amp than the 789. Did sell after a couple of weeks.

The qutest measures good, so will the TT2 I guess.

The Dave is relative old compared with the latest generation toppings and smsl.
The DAVE age defying. It’s still one of the best DAC’s on the planet. The Toppings or SMSL offerings can’t touch it no matter how new they are :smile_phones:

Hi all
If you weren't needing the pre and the headphone output on the TT2 (meaning only using the dac), would it be "better" to go for a Metronome C5+ rather than a TT2 in terms of sound quality?
I have the possibility of getting my hands on a traded in Metronome for around 3000 euro.
Should i grab it?
Tnx

Difficult to say because I cannot find any dealers selling the Metronome.
All that posters on this forum can say is try and demo both the TT2 and the Metronome, and then allow both your ears and wallet to steer your decision.

The Metronome C5+ is a €9000 dac new. There must be "something" about it. I will see if i can audition it here. Tnx.

I thought I share the following:
This is the optical cable (?) I use with my Hugo2 and my PC:

Also, I use this as sender:

Work flawlessly at 192kHz, no issues.
Also works with my Topping DX7 pro.

I have been running my TT2 through the generic Windows 10 driver for a bit now and was capped at 44.1kHz...decided to install the Chord driver today and it's only allowing me to output at 48kHz. The track is 98kHz. Any thoughts on what the problem is?

What software player are you using?
