This is not an easy hobby by any means. At times like these it's good to see everyone pull together rather than nitty pick. The emotional attachment to the music through these dacs becomes so strong that everything else just seems to revolve around it. Inevitably improvements are always on one's mind. Even when i'm socialising in situations with yuppie types i find my mind starts to wander. What if what if?what if i bought a mojo to compliment my h2/hms adding a different sound signature on demand.

I think your preferred genre could be factor here, what is it? I find DAVE doesn't suit every genre, but the transparency really shines w/ certain genres. For example I think EDM and rock really benefit from a more powerful and full sound whereas classical and acoustics is more about resolution.

Nailed it. I listen mostly to high quality electronic music or weighty rock and alternative stuff. I can totally understand where classical and acoustic music would benefit from Dave’s resolution and technical ability, but that’s not what I need. For once in this hobby the cheaper route could be better for me!

But with quality EDM the extra resolution and microdetail extraction is revelatory. i was just listening to kaskade edm. in philosophy there is a term which describes the polar opposites of an approach to any particular dilemma.

@kyle1010, I’m actually very surprised you find the Mojo more organic and natural and analogue than the DAVE. For me I find it the complete opposite where the DAVE has much more ‘oomph’ and organic and natural qualities than the Mojo.

Like @koven mentioned perhaps it’s your preferred genres, or something else, but I’m still very surprised by the observation.

Agreed. Love Kaskade especially his earlier albums. I am hearing details, depth, and atmospherics with Dave that I’ve never heard in my dance music records, but it isn’t as satisfying to me as the smooth organic Mojo sound. My point of reference for gear I have to have is if it sounds so warm and analog yet detailed that I can drift in and out of sleep while listening no matter the track it’s a win. Dave just wows me with technical abilities, which are very very cool but too dry and flat for my genres. WA33/TT should work. Hey at least I’m still a Chord guy. Trust me I considered alternatives but I’ve heard a LOT of dacs at shows and nothing grabs my attention like Chords do.

sorry i should have explained my post.....the best sound for me by a huge margin. Is my Rega p9 tt>VAC 70/70 speaker amp>LCD 4...........mojo + campfire vega isn't even close.Actually I am very interested in the DAVE.I had the hugo 2,but preferred the Theta gen 3 DAC for digital/cd.I think the DAVE hooked up to my speaker amp would be fantastic.

It’s probably slight distortion with the Mojo that’s making it sound smoother which I equate to more organic. Probably why I like tube amps so much, the harmonic distortion is so inviting. Dave is probably too clean and clear removing those small distortions making things seem flatter, brighter, and less full which I interpret as lean and perfectionist or mechanical. Sound is a crazy thing, but I know what I like. Dave is rad, I hope it finds a happy home with someone who enjoys its signature. Back on topic. Is there a TT vs TT2 impression anywhere around here?

Could be... I’ve observed Mojo as flatter and with more distortion than DAVE. The clean analogy you gave helps me understand your perspective, thanks! I find that I hear a lot more variation in the music with DAVE and that, for me, enhances the naturalness of the music. Hard sounds hard, soft sounds soft, impactful sounds impactful, heavy bass is heavy, small sounds present as small. I reckon it’s all down to descriptions here. Anyway, lucky you as you get to save a whack-o-cash! I’m not as fortunate, lol.

I’m still very interested in hearing what the TT2 is like myself for comparison. Those supercaps and analogue stage and all that...
