Such SQ candy for HMS:
Be shure to hear the redbook.. not a remaster

Is Rob listening to the LPS people? I guess he might. I'll be real interested in if the third unit is a power supply. If it is, Rob might have listened to the critics. If not, we're stuck with the $25 psu he normally uses.

Its his own designed RF filter optimised SMPS as he said. No aftermarket stuff here.

No, definitely not. I don't personally have a horse in the race either way (hell, my favorite amp is a tube amp), but based on Rob's presentations as well as my own conversations with him, Rob feels strongly about his approach - and he has very compelling reasons for it, based both in engineering and listening tests. I will avoid saying one side is "right" vs "wrong", as everyone should use the equipment that makes their music most enjoyable to them, but Rob's philosophy is very much to make the most faithful reconstruction of the recording possible, which may not always be the most "pleasing" (to at least some group of people).

Just posted more impressions about the Quartet scaler in its disccusion thread.
Here

Large scale classical is hard to mike record but this album has particulary clear impressive dynamics on HMS:

That album was recorded in the 1960s on magnetic tape, and subsequently remastered using Deccas ADRM technology. Not a particularly good example of impressive dynamics imo.

You have a better example?

Thousands! If you like the Decca approach to recording, which has been well documented, (see this book) then try any of their orchestral recordings of the last twenty or so (ie digital) years.

But there are many great recordings with great dynamics on many labels. Stephen Hough’s Rachmaninov 2 blows away the cobwebs, or Beatrice Rana’s Tchaikovsky 1, to think of a couple I’ve enjoyed recently, but there are many many outstanding recordings.
