Yeah, nearly everywhere that I looked at, they never had any stock left.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the one I’m meant to be getting tomorrow somehow becomes unavailable when it comes to buying/picking up.

I only want it so that I can use my phone or ipad to control it wirelessly and have a direct feed into my mscaler without my computer needing to be turned on. All I want is some quiet mscaler action at night time.
My Chromecast arrived today.
Now I need to order an optical cable as well.

Now I need to order an optical cable as well.

I ordered and got the ethernet adapter for it, stupidly thinking that 96khz tracks would stop stuttering, sadly not, it looks like upto 88khz will have to suffice u til google takes their foot out their ass.

This 96khz bug is rampant and is well known, not sure if google will breakout the fix soon.

You dont need the ethernet adapter if your wireless connect is good, my wifi is super excellent but i still wasted money on a dumb ethernet adapter for it. It was only 15 quid, but that 15 quid could of went towards some hookers and blow on this dreary saturday night.

Mike, your Hugo 2 box has the exact cable that you need, toslink cable with a normal connection at one end and at the other something resembling a normal 3.5mm jack, which should be used for plugging into CCA. It’s a very short cable, but it’s in H2’s box.

How have you integrated the hookers into your chord tt2/hms stack? Does it sound good once up and running? most interested. lol

I like your post but I fear that, if I told you about the hookers and my stack, somebody would report my post. Suffice to say that my stack is turned on and getting hot, 39oC to be exact.

T J Hooker was a great TV show.

Roon works seamlessly with iMac, iPad, iPhone in my hands. Can't comment on how the integration with Qobuz looks yet. Transfer of > 1 TB music from iTunes -> Zenith SE and Roon had only a few misses (< 0.5%) that were quickly addressable. Still some metadata issues with Roon, particularly with boxed sets, collected works, since these compilations often don't have their own metadata entered by the "packager". ROVI and AllMusic are a help with this and there is great support for this in the Roon Community.

Have been listening exclusively to Qobuz using iPeng, Squeezebox Lite into my Zenith SE->IsoRegen->M Scaler->Chord Dave->Focal Utopias and, while streaming in this configuration isn't as wonderful as using the Zenith SE as a music server with redbook or hi-res, it is astonishingly good. Not expecting anything sound quality wise to improve with Roon integration, but looking forward to the fully Roon-integrated approach to streaming and server playing. Will need to explore better ethernet switching.bridging in future. Looking forward to Uptone Audio's soon to be release EtherRegen in this regard.
Presently I have my Roon Core in my MacBook Pro, which connects to MScaler via USB or by Chromecast Audio and optical. Planning for a Roon Nucleus with internal SSD in order to retire the laptop from work with music. The Roon Nucleus is best connected to the router with an Ethernet cable. The router and Roon Nucleus would be in the office. I like to enjoy my music in the living room. Do anybody have a solution on how to introduce the RAAT output from Roon Nucleus into the Hugo M Scaler? Is there an adaptor of any sort that will receive and understand RAAT and transfer rhe digital signal via coax or optical into the M Scaler ??

so you specifically dont want to use the chromecast audio for this ?

I thought chromecast was limited, compared to RAAT protocol, it would not let me listen to the eventual benefits of 24/192 compared to 24/96 Hi-Res files albeit the HMS makes even redbook wonderful there might be a slight difference. And the little chromecast thing might get damaged or u/s some day, so I am looking for something sturdier and more professional comparable to the rest of the setup.

im liking the lights on mscaler more and more. particularly since i changed to optical, i like the green, then usually the SR OP light is white, then more often the input rate light is green. now its a light yellow colour for 88 khz, which is not often seen. anyway, its just nice seeing the different arrangement of lights. yes, i am simple. i tried to photograph the lights but it doesn't come out well.

Go figure ?
Pity poly only works with mojo

Well I’d go for something a lot simpler than Poly, so a lot easier to get working. Roon endpoint, maybe a DLNA renderer, ethernet and WiFi in, and either galvanically isolated USB or spdif, or toslink, out, whichever gave the best result. Nice box, no doubt with a coloured ball. Few hundred quid.

Sounds like a thing that Chord could sell a lot of. Or maybe Roon could find it proper to manufacture such an item that would make the Nucleus even more attractive. Then it would be a greyblack box with no coloured ball, just perfectly tuned for the RAAT protocol.

I’m not proposing a Nucleus type thing - quite happy to run my Roon Core on whatever machine I fancy and happen to have - a laptop, an iMac or whatever. What I’m proposing is a little box that just acts as a Roon endpoint and so can receive audio from whatever Roon Core you have running, wherever it is. It would hardly have to do anything - just receive some data off the network and pass it to your DAC, so it should be possible to make a small, very electrically quiet, optimised interface. People are using Raspberry Pis (or even Squeezebox Touch’s) to do this, but since they are not optimised for audio it is unlikely that they are ideal in terms of electrical noise/RFI/EMI/jitter/ bad karma. With such a box you wouldn’t need to connect your laptop/pc to your Mscaler/Chord DAC at all, so there would be no issues arising from such a connection, and it would be a lot neater. Another reason I am proposing a Chord Roon endpoint rather than a beefed up Poly is that Chord got into a lot of trouble trying to do too many things with the Poly. By focusing on Roon only, they would make things a lot easier for themselves.

A 200 pound old lenovo style/type laptop makes an excellent roon bridge which satisfies bit perfect roon output into dacs/hms. This can be placed anywhere. I'm surprised no one mentions it. Just close the lid on it once up and running and you have an ultra quiet endpoint. Only mac os and windows can be installed so don't think of it as a remote. I feel very lucky that my late 2013 (512gb ssd) imac roon core has optical out directly into my hms.
