The lack of power on/off is frustrating for me as well. I don't want to leave it on all the time

I don’t mind the leaving it on all the time part, devices like these I think are made to do that and kept warm etc, but I’m just wondering the proper way to turn it off

I remove the power chord very frequently-ultimately it’s a computer and no computer ever suffered from a reboot.

I bet they mean don't unplug while something is playing. From the manual:

If the power supply is prematurely disconnected Hugo M Scaler may still remain active for up to 15 seconds, however, this may cause damage to connected equipment.

Never disconnect the power cable during operation. Only disconnect when Hugo M Scaler is off. If the power cable is disconnected during operation there is a risk of damage to connected equipment.

Question - since the MScaler upscales everything to 705.6, (768 in some cases), do we still benefit from high res. tracks like 88.2 and 96 tracks (etc.)? Or are we better off with a 16/44.1 track with the MScaler?

Yes it benefits from hi res.

My collection is about 70% 44.1k, 15% 96k, 5% up to 192k, 10% DSD (mainly DSD128, up to DSD256).

The benefits of M Scaler are consistent over the various resolutions IME, bringing more flow, naturalness and palpability to the DAVE.

Apart from special cases, e.g. recordings from the 50's and 60's in 16/44 format, where the HMS really brings this music to a new life, I find the effect of the HMS more related to the type of music / recording techniques than to the format.
For example, my Pink Floyd collection in 16/44 benefits from the HMS less than, say, The Trinity Session in 24/192.

What I mean is that when tone, timbre, spatial cues are especially relevant for the enjoyment of the musical message (as with most acoustic unamplified music recorded live) the improvements of the HMS are most apparent to my ears, even starting from very high res or even DSD material.

And the same applies to minimalistic recordings (one or very few mikes, minimal processing chain), where the M Scaler gives me that goosebumps illusion of pristine replay of the real event which I strive for in this crazy hifi hobby :)

Can I ask where you got the Trinity Session at 24/192? I normally buy from Qobuz and they only have 16/44. Thanks.

I found the 24/192 version of TTS on the ZENith SE already loaded when I bought it used, the seller told me it was a rip from a Music on Vinyl 180grams disc. After that, I bought the 16/44 and DSD128 versions (hybrid SACD from Analogue Productions) just to compare, and Trinity Revisited (16/44) upon your recommendation (thanks!) :)

Makes sense. Sounds like MScaler can improve just about anything but the degree to which we perceive the improvement can depend on the type of music.

Gottya that makes sense now. I couldn't figure that till now. thanks mk. out of interest do you think playing the two units separately is better if you have the space. so no worries about overheating affecting stacked units?

I have them stacked and they really don't even get what I would call very warm, just moderately warm. I think it's totally fine.
