Even way back in primitive 1970's stationed in Germany/UK/Netherlands, European TV feeds generally were superior to anything we had from various regions back home. We were reminded again not to take proclamations from provincial thinking back home seriously how "everything is better in USA", and no native American who has spent years abroad can say with a straight face that American beer is better (-:

Is this a PAL vs NTSC thing? Have you ever had Yuengling?

Just a snippet I had to share.... I’ve just bought an album from Qobuz, “The 60s Hits - The Best Album Ever (100 Classics Hits Remastered)”. A bargain for £3.99, even without a subscription (although I’ve gone back to Sublime+ since getting HMS)! I know I’m showing my age here but Dance On by The Shadows sounds just awesome. I love Qobuz (and Chord Electronics) :-)

Tragedy of errors today, it is certainly not a comedy! HMS finally arrived at 5pm, started the install and one of the BNC cables has manufacturing errors and will not fit. So listening now on single BNC/SPDIF. The SQ is certainly better than from a straight DAVE but the whole episode is a big disappointment so far. Hopefully a replacement BNC cable will arrive by the weekend so I can sample dual BNC mode.

All 3 right hand side lights on my HMS are lit red, is this correct? All the photos on this thread so far show only one lit. The remote control seems to have no effect when music is playing. The manual is not exactly helpful in this respect, Chord what are you Guys playing at?

When you say that one of the bnc cables will not fit, is this a pin problem or something else? I have seen centre pins get bent if the cable is not offered up straight and that can then bend the centre female socket. I know you have probably dealt with more bnc cables than the number of times I have fallen off my horse (which is a lot!) but just trying to be helpful.

The pin is fine, its the inner screen that is the problem. You can see that it is slightly burred as though it was forced to fit in its manufacturing jig. Fanthorpes are on the case but it is all so frustrating.

See how you get on. I don't use my supplied cables so you can have mine free if you like.

Very kind of you thanks but as I have got Fanthorpes involved, I think they/Chord need to supply replacements and they are likely to arrive the same time as yours even if you post yours tomorrow. I am very grateful of your offer but I am not prepared to let Chord off the hook on this.

Lionel Louecke “The Journey”. Exquisite, extraordinary, sensual, thoughtful, virtuosic, gentle, true, true, genuine, music of the deepest and most humane human kind. From Africa to Brazil and back. Listen.

Excellent suggestion. Just listening to it now.

OK the remote control works but I need to be within 4 feet of the HMS for it to respond. What's the ******* point of that?
I can turn the two rightmost lights out so all I need now is for Chord to replace the faulty BNC cable. What a day, NOT!

Yes, my remote control seems to need to be used so close and so line of sight with my M Scaler that it is somewhat of an overstatement to call it a remote control. It is a very nearby control.

Six to eight feet seems to be the max range on mine.

I’m having trouble at four to six feet and at any kind of angle. There’s no real use for the remote control for me so I am not that bothered.

It would be nice to have one remote for a DAVE and M Scaler though - I wonder if any of the programmable/OneForAll type remotes would be any good?

The effective range is maybe calculated according to the size of an average living room in GB?
I still remember many many years ago, when I asked a friend who made and marketed his own HIFI systems, why his big horn speakers were not selling well in England and he answered have you seen an average living room over there?
Now knowing,no wonder so many here seem to be setting up desktop based mini speaker systems.
