What is the "Hot fix 5.11.0.1"?
"Fixes performance regression by moving back to AVX2-only build."
Is this the version we get if we upgrade to desktop 5.11?

https://signalyst.com/hqplayer-5-desktop-5-11-0-1-hotfix-for-windows/
If I understood correctly Jussis 5.11.00 build supported AVX-1 and older stuff too but so many people complained about performance degradation that the hotfix version only supports AVX-2 again.

I don't know why he did that because if your cpu doesn't support AVX-2 it's probably too old to run HQPlayer on anyway..

...
But an open box deal at Best Buy for the 1st gen Asus Rog Ally with Z1 extreme 16G DDR5, 512G SSD at $275 all inclusive is like putting a knife on my neck of a deal and I had to bite the bullet on this one.
....

Are you certain the model you bought is the Z1 Extreme and not just the Z1? There is a rather large price difference, and if you do have the Extreme version at the price you quoted, that's more like a steal than a deal. Just looking to confirm.

Positive. I don’t even think the Z1 version was ever made available in Canada.

That’s why it’s a knife on my neck deal!!!

Even at Costco, they are throwing out the Msi claw a1m ultra 5 handheld for roughly $350 usd no tax, brand new with a travel case and 2 years of warranty

There are big processor efficiency gains. I can play the new 512 fast modulator with the new Sinc L h filter at 48x512 with no skips. This clearly shows a sound quality advantage to sending SDM NOS to Saber DAC chips over PCM 768/ 32.

The new LH filter is meant to be at 1/8 of the processing requirement of the regular sinc L,

Hqplayer desktop 5.11 - Miska is no joke when he claimed this is a major revamp on efficiency and performance. Pretty much improvements are seen across all platforms … rpi5 running stable with dsd256 7EC fast

Asus ally rog stable with dsd512 7EC fast below 50 degrees.

Most importantly sounds amazing!!!
What's the difference between 7EC fast and 7EC-super? I tried and tried hoping I could sneak in on 512 with my m2 mini but no go!

Installed 5.11.0 tonight and tried a whole bunch of combinations, I don’t see any difference, which seems odd. Maybe it’s the limitations of the m2 Mini? Maybe later this year I’ll get an m4 if the reports are good. Still can’t complain at hires-lp or psg halfband with 7EC-super but it would be great to get to psg-xla without having to back down to 7EC-xl.

I am not actually a big fan of the new fast modulator as I find the sound a bit lean. The revamped 7EC super actually sounded better than the old version and I now prefer it over the 7ECV3

Tried Linux Mint 22.1 with Miska’s low latency kernel. A bit disappointing as performance and cpu temp not as strong compared to Ubuntu 24.04.1 Ltd, even tho Linux Mint 22.1 is built based on Ubuntu 24.04.1…

Fast is focused more on transient, so a touch sharper in transient, a touch leaner, cleaner sound compared to Super but not as bright compared to light
It's exactly what's been missing in my setup 😁
